Default Stock LS6 shortblock...?

Can a stock LS6 shortblock be purchased through a dealer? I called this morning and I can get the LS6 service longblock w/o the intake etc for an fbody application or a complete LS6, but they said there was no listing for a shortblock.

Any info?

this doesn't answer your question, nice post about short block sales though:

I work at a dealership and asked the same question to our parts dept. They said I couldn't just get a short block anymore.

Did the dealer give you a price on that LS6 longblock? I have a 5.3 in my Suburban that I've been toying with the idea of having it bored to 5.7, and getting a set of LS6 heads and cam. Would you be interested in buying the shortblock from me...I buy the longblock and keep the heads?

You can probably buy a forged LS6 shortblock and ported LS6 heads for the price of the GM engine. I bet it's close to 5000.00 for the crate engine from GM.
