Default Looking for advice

I'm limited on funds and I need a new motor for my '98 Z28. I found a guy that has a NEW 6.0L iron block that he'll part with for $550. He'll throw in some "used" but good stock internals(crank, rods and pistons) for $150. I know I'll have to buy rings, bearings, new oil pump ect...

I need to get an idea what it could/should cost me to get the block cleaned and prepped(it's been in storage), have the used crank turned, and possibly have the short block assembled. Or if this is even a good idea??? I know a local shop will rebuild my stock short block for around $950.

I appreciate your input...
