This has been covered a bunch of times all SS's went to SLP they only got the SLP door sticker if opt equip was added. But I am sure someone could chime in on what RPO code needs to be on the driver door sticker to make it real...

Look on the drivers door ,on there is a sticker that tells you all the RPO codes and they will translate into what options came with your SS, the RPO code that makes it a SS is WU8 look for that on the door sticker and Y2Y, that mean it could of gone to SLP for more options.

you can also call slp and give them the vin and they can verify it for you

WU8 = Camaro SS
Y2Y = Additional Content from SLP
But as stated ALL that means every single solitry 1996 to 2002 Camaro SS went to SLP. SLP installed the Hood and Spoiler, on ALL SS's . . . .

If the guy you bought it from advertised it as an SS, I would be really pissed if I were you.

bought the car form a dealer and i was pretty sure it wasnt a real ss. it had a different cowl hood and the rk sport wing (not a big fan of it) and i figured its most likely a z28 with ss badges. i just want to check to make sure when i bought the car i was pretty sure it was not a real ss

Kelly Blue Book shows a difference. It even has it as the first option to choose from.

It shows the option, but the value doesn't change. Do a search with all the same options and then do the SS with the same options. No change.

So did you find out if you had a real SS or not. Either way good luck with the buy. I am taking my brother to go pick up a 2000 Z28 today.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, they wouldnt put the option in there if it didnt matter. And yes it changes the value I just put in two of the same cars one an SS and one a Z and guess what two different prices..

Actually you helped out the Z alot because you only inputted 5k miles and KBB says its worth 11,615
And the SS you gave 50k miles and it says its worth 13,170
But KBB also says that a Z with 50k miles is worth 11,290 which is rediculous because a Z with only 5k is only worth 325 bucks more than the same car with 50k....um I think not!!!!!:smokin2:

Don't get your panies in a bunch. Do a 2000 (which is what I was searching) with the same options as a SS with my zip and you get the same suggested retail value. Maybe it has something to do with the location. I did the KBB twice, and the dealership just did the same so I don't know what to tell you. Anyway we are off topic.
