I have my front WA plate in the window cause i think the car looks a lot better with out it on the bummper, but i guess base Security doesn't think so.

Earlier in the week I was driving on base and Security said, "so when r u going to mount ur plate properly?" I simply told him when i get screws for it. And he told me that it is a voilation and i could get pulled over if it. i said thanks and he let in on my happy way with me not think to much about it.

Well last night when i can back on base they ticketed me right there at the gate!!! SO i guess i have to say GOODBYE to the great style of my front end and put the plate back on.

By the way I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM OUT IN TOWN with my plate the the window!!!!!!!!

Has this happen to anyone else???

Is there a motorized front plate i can put on??

i did the same thing with mine back in the day when i had a mustang, left it in the windshield, having it there got me busted for underage drinking...long story.
Check the state laws, some require that the pate be visible on the front of the car (including the winshield) some require the plate to be on the bumper. Either way just putting it on the bumper is the easiest way, because the cops may not immediatly see it in the windshield

as long as it's visible in the front. i had mine on the front air dam got stopped in NC for front plates. all the cop told me is that it needs to be visible from the front, i asked him if the windshield would do he said yes, " as long as we can see it". now i just don't run one they're not that smart to look up what the TX state law has to say about it. i know back home if the cops want to be a dick he can give you a ticket for it. but check the state law and there might be a loop hole so you can hang it from the windshield. but know that the base usually goes with the strickest of the two.

every time i get that crap with my firehawk i sing the same old song... " i'm not drilling holes in the bumper of a collector car!! " my hawkk doesn't have any mounting bracket so... screw that !! i dont even remember where i put the front plate.. lost in the sea of my room somewhere. in WA, does the plate have to be displayed on the front bumper? and does your car have a mounting bracket? if not, i would say the same thing.

i had mine on the front air dam .
Yup that is where mine is at. I got tired on the rent-a-cops telling me it was illegal to have it in the window:eyes:

I would just leave it out completely...out of sight, out of mind.

FWIW, I don't run a front plate on any of my 3 cars here in Cali, and I've yet to get hassled by anyone on or off base. (knocks on wood!)

Exactly, they wouldnt even notice if you dint have it in your windshield, keep it in the car, if they say anything tell them it fell off so you are waiting for parts

has happen to me a "few" times. I used to have a clean Lightning and never put it on (when I was station in TX) and eventually the base rent a homo's at the gate gave me shit, I told them as what Hawk was saying "Im not drilling holes in my bumber" blah blah....well the two nights later that dick was working and had the little Amn give me a ticket. Two weeks later I got another and my shirt said one more and were taking your diving privileges...so I fucking zip tied it.

Then I got my TA about two years ago and almost immediately I was given shit with my bird plate being on...they said if we see your car with no front plate, your getting a ticket. GAY!!

Now Im in AZ and they have no front plate law!!

When I had my old Z28, I stuck the plate on the hood with those Superman man strength magnets that dealerships use. The guys working the gate didn't think it was as funny as I did when I told them I mounted it:D

We are supposed to have it in Jersey but I don't hear many people getting grief about not having it, especially if it's titled in another state, and just about every other car doesn't have a front plate

tech you have to follow the state rules that your car is registered in, that being said it your in wa registered in ny and they require front plates also what is the chance the gate guard knows the other states plate laws. i know az doesn't require a front plate

I was just pulled over a couple of days ago for not having my front plate on my z28, they didn't give me a ticket but a written warning was issued. Luckly enough I just so happend to have my front plate in the rear floorboard. I was on my way home on leave so I did what 99ws7 did only all i could get at the truck stop was shoe laces....looks so stupid. I think I will get my car registered in Ohio...I don't think they have front plate laws, does anyone know?

You have to have BOTH plates on the car in Ohio. That is where both of mine are registered. I got pulled by a OH state trooper when I was home on leave and didn't have the plate in the window of the TA. While he was talking to me I threw it in the window for the time being and asked if that would work. His response was no because an officer might still not be able to see it there and it has to be mounted on the front of the vehicle. Cop was real cool and gave me a verbal warning:eyes:.

One good thing about a car being registered in Ohio; NO emissions testing:D
