Default Its Alive!

Just got my car running last night... And suprisingly it started right up after installing the heads, cam, intake, underdrive pully, headers, all new top end components. Not even a full revolution and it came alive... No problems. BUT, I shut it down, to check fluid levels, and when I started it up again, she was surging like a ****... is this normal... I think it needs some time to think about what happened, and it will straighten out, but I am worried a little bit...

Yes. The motor is flowing completely differently than what the computer expects. It'll 'learn' the idle characteristics as you run/drive it, but it won't be perfect until it's tuned.

Thanks boosted... I am just a little stoked that it fired right up... but after I shut it off and it started to buck like that, I got a little worried, cause it wouldnt even start without giving it a little gas, then had to feather it to keep her going. Seemed like it got a little better once she warmed up... She is scheduled for a tune, just gotta give them a heads up that its done come monday morning.

Not really a test beat, but a few miles on it to see if it tames down a little... Might have been born at night, but not last night....

Good to hear you got it back together. Now take it for a ride and make sure that the trans mods are good.

Speed Inc is doing the tuning... Cam swap eh.... How much beer do you have and how tolerant are you to swearing? I would suggest doing things all at once tho, so if you have planned heads in the future wait... Makes things ALOT easier. Plus you wont have to pay for retunes. I did heads, cam, LTs, Underdrive, Motor mounts, Intake, Rockers, Pushrods, Lifters, Stall, Trans Go shift kit... All at once, and now only have to pay once. Plus I have some big injectors to take care of the fuel issue, that will be swapped in before tuning. But doing it all together made it easier. I hate tearing things apart over and over again. My credit cards might be screaming, but I am not.

HAHA, theres always beer around and swearing, well my garage walls know thats nothing new. Im just going cam only along with dual springs and pushrods etc.. and maybe a small hit down the road and im done. already have LT`s and UD pulley on. I haven`t ordered the kit yet but, tax return could light the fire under my ***. My brother in law is a deisel mechanic with alot of experience in gas engines as well. He says order the package and lets get it done so we will see.

Car sounds great Joe. We will definitely have to meet up over the summer. I cant guarantee my ride will be ready but hopefully it will be.
