Well I just pulled the heads off of my motor and wanted to look things over and one of the first things that I noticed was the exhaust valves had a red color to them... almost as if they were lightly misted with a can of red spray paint. What does this mean? Everything else looked okay... cylinder walls were pretty shiny which for 60k miles is probably okay but what do you guys think, how does everything look? just wanted to make sure before I went ahead with the build.

i wouldn't be worried.... all looks fine to me... cept that last picture. You have some deposits of sand and crap down in there, make sure you clean it out real good!

Seen it before on other heads - I think ppl say it it due to additives in gasoline. I wouldn't worry.

fuel injector cleaner, sta-bill, octan booster, torco... will do that. You'll have the same thing on your 02s, and sutch.
