Question which heads to run on a 408 stroker

which heads to run on a 408 stroker.. i was planning to run the the L92/L76 Cylinder Head(64cc) and Manifold Package from slp but then i was reading on another forum that with the L92L76 heads make less than a set of different heads and this is what i read....

6.0 with cam and that topend can see 480rwhp easy
a 6.7 with cam andthat topend unported is roughly 10rwhp less.

6.7 with a set of ported L92s barely sees 5xx rwhp
6.7 with a set of stage 3 Ls6 heads is easily over 5xx rwhp

theres a truck recently RCSB with this topend and only musted a 11.8 i believe...that is good time but should be way faster with a 408.

so thus leaving me thinkin to either going with a set of
PRC LS6 Stage 3 Ported Heads
Precision Race Components LS6 Stage 3 CNC Ported Cylinder heads, 64cc Chamber

which one would be better with my set up of the 408 consists of Diamond 4cc pistons, plasamoly/napier ring set, eagle h-beams with , eagle 4" crank ,With ARP2000 rod bolts and ARP main stud, ls6 ported oil pump, DBR timing chain , Long tube headers aem intake .. still debating on which manifold to run with and cam
so any input/feed back would be great

I personally haven't seen any L92 setups w/ overly impressive results, and the intake runs out of breath at 6000RPM on big cubes. If it was me I'd go the LS6 route and that's what I voted for.

I'd go with AFR 225's or TFS 235's.

My humble little 408 has cheap Stage II Patriots and an MS3 + FAST 90/90. 510 RWHP N/A and still fiddling with it.

Here is a sticky on 400 cu in engines that is very informative. I think you will notice the highest RWHP and RWTQ engines actually have TFS heads on them.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/816128-408-results-part-ii.html

I know of someone who tested the AFR 225's versus the TFS 225's on an engine dyno back to back and the TFS heads made almost 20 HP more.

I have a customer in FL that pulled TFS 225's off his 402 and installed TFS 235's and picked up 10 RWTQ and 12 RWHP.

With the TFS 235's making 600+ RWHP on a couple of big cu in N/A, hyd cam, pump gas engines, I would say they would be hard to beat. You have to examine the intake mid lift flow at .300"-.500", these lift points are what dictate how much power a head will make. Here is a link to our web site that outlines what they flow on our bench. You can PM me if you like for flow numbers on competitors heads flowed back to back on our flowbench if you want.

i say get a set of ported L92 heads. how a head that flows 360-380 cfm can run out of breath @ 6k is beyond me. if you go with L92s you need a GMPP carbed intake to take advantage of it. if you go with the ls6 style heads, PLEASE put a super vic on it. **** the crossover style intakes - that's where the hp loss is starting. the use of a single plane intake on the big cube / big cam motors would be a GREAT start in posting some good numbers for these combos.

also, tsp appears to offer a nice ported L92 head with avail. hollow intake valves...

how bout the L92/l76s 64 cc head with the right cam ? if not i think imma lean towards the Prcs ls6 64cc head with like a texas speed giant cam.. and then later up grade to a fast 92 o 90 intake manifold.. Btw this is for a truck remember guyz hehe.. HOW would the PRCs perform with stock truk intake manifold until i can upgrade manifolds

I've been hearing nothing but great things about TFS heads. But the comparison I want to see is against ETP. I'd really love to see how the TFS heads compare to the ETP LS7 setups on any 4xx motors.

Is all you did was swap heads?

Is this a M6?

What is your complete combo?

Marco
