Turbo Piping and Intercooler inlet/outlet sizes I'm currently redoing all of the piping on my turbo system and had a question about pipe sizes. My T76 has 2.5" piping on the cold side all the way to the throttle body. Right before it gets to the MAF, it expands to about 4" I believe. My question is, I'm going to be getting a 31"x12"x4" FMIC. The inlet/outlet of this intercooler is 3". If I run the same 2.5" pipe, will the different sized intercooler inlet/outlet have any adverse affects on air flow or boost pressure? I was planning on just getting some 3" to 2.5" silicone reducers for the FMIC, to connect the 2.5" piping.

I'm a turbo newb. I did find a 31"x11.75"x3" that has 2.5" inlets and outlets. I'll probably just order that. I wanted to go with the bigger intercooler (4") with the 3" inlet/outlet because I was thinking a 3" core might not be able to support 700+ HP. I'm guessing it will though. 
That and if I ever move up to a T88 I might need to bigger sized inlet/outlet diameter. Any thoughts.

Its a T76 with a AR .70 housing. The plumping for the cold side is 2.5 inches. I found a intercooler that has 2.5" inlets/outlets (http://www.siliconeintakes.com/produ...fd0506ea5a3ab2 )but its more expensive than the 4" core Ebay intercooler with the 3" inlet/outlets. I'm thinking I'm just going to go with the Ebay intercooler if running reducers is okay. Thanks

I'm running a mix of sizes on my setup. Anywhere there are bends, that I can fit 3", it's getting 3". One long run (the rocker panel pipe that came with the sts kit originally) is still 2.5".
One way to look at it, is that the smallest area is where the bottleneck will be, so why bother with going bigger.
But another way to look at it, is like with wire gauges, if you run larger wire where you can, and a short run of smaller wire, it's better than using small wire the whole way. (like a small cord hanging off a tool, plugged into a long heavy extension cord)
I wanted the extra diameter to help with the air having to turn.
