Nitrous Oxide - Teflon Sealant??

Started puting together my fuel gage sender and they say use Teflon sealant, not teflon tape. I went to a number of places and no one has anything called teflon sealant. I have some thread sealant. Is that the same?

Napa or Advanced should carry it. Its Teflon paste.

Tape will work fine, just be VERY careful not to get near the end of the threads b/c you could get some tape in the line...clog a selenoid, etc etc bad things etc etc

Advanced did not have it. I might try Napa. That is about the only one I did not try- it farther away.

Any hardware store will carry the paste. Just look in the plumbing section.

I would think just about any hardware store will have teflon paste, do not use teflon tape, you dont want that getting pulled into your line.

I still use the tape. It works great as long as you install it correctly

Or you can just use Red Loc-Tite. That's what came with some of my NX stuff and I used it on all of my pipe fittings and have not had any issues. It can also be removed if need be. No chance of the teflon paste drying up and clogging a nozzle or jet.

I just checked and I have a new Red Loc-Tite stick. I think I will give it a try.

A little dab will go a long way! :D Don't go crazy with it.

Permatex makes the liquid teflon thread sealant. you can get it at pepboys and kragens.

Like suggested above. A hardware store is the best place to go. It will be in the plumbing section.

Be careful using the red lock tights. it's designed for stud locking and not really meant as a removable type sealant. A better option is to use Blue lock tight as it's meant as a sealant that can easily be disassembled. the red can cause problems, esp with alum and yes I use both on a daily basis, in many applications, in the Maritime industry. my favorite for home use is Blue 430 IIRC, as it's designed to still seal properly even when contaminated with oil, most wont work well if not totally clean. Actually, any soft seal that's used on pipe fittings will do. Teflon paste comes in many brands and names, and at work we use Seals Pipe.
