Default Removal of front coolant crossover tube

I would like to cap the 2 front coolant passages on my heads, eliminating the cross over tube. Has anyone else done this? If I do this are there any problems I should be aware of? Other than passing coolant to the throttle body is there any other reason this tube is there?

It's used to pass air pockets out of the heads. You WILL have overheating issues without it. It serves about the same pourpose as the steam holes in the heads of the old 400 SB.

Yep, when I fill my system I jack up the front of the car and the front cross-over ensures that air pockets are eliminated.

Why do you want to remove it? A lot of guys are considering adding the rear one back in.

I need room under my throttle body as I relocated my power steering reservoir and the lines are running under there. Can I put the crossover in the back of the motor and cap the fronts?

Not sure exactly what your setup looks like, but you might be able to cut the tubes near the heads and then run coolant hose to a "Y" fitting. This will allow you to re-route the line if its in the way. I wouldn't eliminate it though. If you can get your hands on a kit, you can also barb the ends to help keep the hose in place. When I installed my FAST, it was in the way and I simply tapped it with a rubber mallet to bend it lower so it wouldn't contact the intake. This is another option if it will provide you the clearance you are looking for.
