Default Trans Am Owners - Past or Present

Ever have any problems with your head lights?

Like, one go up and not the other? Or a headlight stay up when you turn the switch for them to go off?

Kinda having a weird issue with that. It's rare though, so, I'm confused.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the gear uses only one side since it only goes up and down a ways and never touches the opposite side of the gear leaving it unscaved

the gear that makes them go up and down. that gear, only on side is used

pretend this is the gear "O"
left side-->O<----right side

only one side gets used to operate the lights, since its plastic, it gets worn, but the other side never gets touched. so if you fo in there and flip the gear to the "new" side,then the gear should help the light go up/down like new. that is if the flip has not been done before

they also sell a brass gear to replace the plastic gear, they last longer. i found howto some where for the flip and for the brass, let me see if i can dig it up

no prob man. before i got my bird, i read up on a lot of stuff for it. you should have seen me when i was test driving/looking at them, the way the owners would look at me when me and my friends would go through the car with the 'white glove' so to speak. i specially had my friend turn the lights on/off so i could listen to the headlight motor/gears.

then i ended up buying one in texas that i have not seen/heard yet-----LMAO

NO! NO! NO! Don’t buy the BRASS. I bought the brass gears from Rodney and installed them and a year later my motor burned out and I took it to the dealer and the guy at the dealer said that there’s a reason why they use plastic gears because when the gear gets jammed the plastic will just grind or break and the brass will fight the motor till it burns out. I put the plastic gears back in. I got them from Rock Auto for $10 each which is way cheaper then the brass and a lot cheaper than buying a new motor and it's worked perfect.

And you don't need anything too expensive since you might be selling your car anyway and look how long your gears hafe lasted so what if you have to change them every 5 or 6 years It's very easy to change trust me you can do it in 20 min.
