don't bother

not worth the time or money for the 5hp you'll gain.

not to mention most will give you trouble with clearances on the frame. stick with what you have untill you can afford headers.

money better spent elsewhere

+1. Most of the restriction is in the stock manifolds themselves, and not necessarily the stock y-pipe. Just save a little bit of money and get some LT's. You won't regret it!

Keep the stock y pipe until you upgrade to headers. Definitely not worth the hassle.

Plus you may end up having to buy another y pipe down the road since a y pipe designed for the stock manifolds probably won't work the long tube headers.

Mac y pipe would be your best bet...big difference in sound not so much in power.

I have a SLP and it was well worth it to get rid of that flat spot.

I just really wanted to y pipe to make it sound better....but that makes sense to just wait and get LTs and a ypipe together and not have to buy another ORY after i get LTs. Thanks for the help..... now and advice for LTs and ORY....lol....thanks

SLP makes a pipe specifically for what you want to do.

I have a bassani ORY pipe that I bought from Thunder Racing. Did it for a quick fix to make it loud, lol. I put down 338hp/345tq to the wheels on the dyno. If you don't plan on headers I consider it a good buy.

I think stainless works makes a catless ypipe. mufflex makes stainless pipes that replaces the stock cats.

"it was well worth it to get rid of that flat spot."

the flat spot isn't a restriction...i measured and calculated when i had my old exhaust laying around.

2.5" dia round pipe has 4.9 sq inches of cross sectional area.

the flat spot is something like 1.75x3" which calculates out to 4.6 sq inches.

i don't recall the exact dimensions of the "flat spot" but i know it calculated out almost exactly. so really it isn't much of a restriction.

yeah the flat spot isnt as bad as it looks.

best hp for dollar is a set of used macs. gonna be much lighter than stock parts and make almost the same power as long tubes.
