Default 572 Nelson racing engine video

Last night I watched a show about some guys rebuilding Tony Stewart's famous hearse. For the powerplant they installed a GM 572 crate engine. However, I thought I heard (or read) somewhere that the 572 Nelson engine generates significantly more HP and torque than the GM version. Has anyone else heard that too? Here's a video of a '66 Impala SS with the Nelson motor:

yes, it does because the Nelson engine is more agressive and uses better parts. Nelson is the MAN when it comes to engine building. check out his website, i have it bookmarked. www.nelsonracingengines.com check out 2000HP cruisin in the video section

The GMPP stuff like that crate engine can't use the best part because of money, most would not want to afford it. Second most look for streetability and good maners with a good chunk of HP. Like in the link posted in your post its a good manared daily driver engine.

Have my car run next to it (at idle) and that engine will run away with its tail tucked between its legs but my engine was not built for what that was built for.

For what it costs for a 572 crate engine you could build a SICK BBC.
