if ya dont have access to a lift it would be easier to go out the top.

You are lucky to have all that stuff to do it !!!! I did one from the bottom once and it was easy too but if you have a way to lift it....

Did anyone else did it from the top ???? any tips ??? Do I need to take the Tranny out with the engine too ??? is it hard to put it back together if not ???

From the top is easier if you don't have a lift.

Ive done several engine drop outs through the bottom. Much more quicker and simple. If you have to jacks and a pair of high lift stands ur good to go. I always put a kreaper with 2x4's in the center to roll out the engine

I have the whole front removed !!! no bumper, support or headlights.... I did one from the bottom and it was easy but with the lift... I can't immagine doing it from the floor

I don't want to have to bleed the brackes again and disconect the Y-pipe and the driveshaft, etc... I don't even want to get the LT removed. :'(

I guess you realize you've got to give somewhere. I wouldn't expect to have room to get it out from the top without getting the headers out of the way.

BTW - I've seen pictures of people who have jacked the car up in the air, supported the rear on some spare wheels & tires, and used a cherry picker to lift the body off of the cradle. Basically, drop it out of the bottom without a lift. If I can find the links here, I'll post them in this thread. I did not find it on Install University or LS1 How to...

I'm pretty sure that is how I'll do mine when the time comes.

i took mine out bottom in my garage. used a cherry picker to lift the front of the car with the back tires on blocks. worked good, not nearly as hard as i expected...not easy by any means, but not bad.

Ive done it both ways and I think the easiest is out the bottom... I took mine out that way with 2 jackstands holding the front of the car up. and then a high lift jack to let the K-member down. and I had 2 more jackstands to support and for safety when i dropped the K-member.

i did mine through the top with a engine hoist aka cherry picker. Bought the QTP manifold plate and it lifted right out from the top, very easy. just take out the motor mounts, make sure everythign is disconnnected, and make sure you have the radiator out, and it slides right out from the top.

Did you pull the trans first or did you leave it in there and disconnect it from the block.
