Default HP potential with 408+2.8L twin screw?

I'm putting a 2.8L kenne bell supercharger on my 8.5:1cr 408 with ET245 heads. I know the blower can be spun to 18,000rpm. Anyone have any calculations to figure out what kind of HP potential this combo will theoretically have? I found some CFM calculations online but wasn't sure how to translate them into HP.

(CID*RPM/3456)*VE=CFM where 3456 is a constant. I presume you could use this to calculate the engines CFM capacity and the blower's max CFM output?

These numbers would all be theoretical because we don't know at what rpm the engine will make peak hp and don't know the VE. Most of the info i found said to use 0.85 for VE.

Anyway, if someone knows how to calculate this, that would be cool. I'm trying to theoretically figure out how much HP I will make at what blower rpm. KB says the blower is good for 18,000 rpm and 24lbs boost.

Jeff (American_HP) made 800/800 very easily on the setup I bought from him. He also had a 402. I am putting mine on a 347 and will push it north of that I am sure.

The big question is how much boost it can be spun to safely while pushing a very heavy vehicle. Yes,it could make serious hp on a dyno, but could really detenate on the street under the load.

im sure it will be both dyno and street tuned..... and they use a load based Mustang dyno FWIW. Should be a sick set up Dan!

good point. so this brings up another question: how much airflow out of the blower can the engine take on 93 octane without adding methanol for cooling/octane?

the plan is to see what it can safely do on 93 octane. it's going to be interesting to see the results. i'm curious to see how fast we can spin the blower on the 6 rib setup. point here is, what good is a blower that can spin to 18,000 rpm if there is not a way of doing it without belt slippage.

i'm working on an 8 rib setup but want to see how much the 6 can handle before spending a grand, lol.

I have the 8 rib setup already. I plan starting the install in the next week or two. Just waiting on a couple of things.

I always wondered what happened to that car. Why did he end up selling the blower?

He has an LSX 454 on the spray now. There were a lot of little issues that ended up not being the blower at all. He can explain if he wants to but the KB is a great product.

Same reason he always changes things - some people just have it bad.

i'm dying to know how that guy made 800/800. granted i'm only making 12lbs boost but i only made 485rwhp on a mustang dyno. BIG difference between 485 and 800. I lose some due to the trans etc.

was he spinning the blower to it's max?

check out the Magnuson 2.3L TVS.. made 950 crank hp..

http://www.magnusonproducts.com/

If your not making 900+ wheel hp with a 2.8L blower you need to rethink the blower selection.. a 2.8L "should" be good for over 1000 crank hp... but we'll see

ok, how about this for a question: how much more HP will I make at the wheels by adding 4000rpm to the blower?

I think he was in the 19 psi range. The blower is capable of 25psi+. Another guy I know is laying down 750rwhp with a 2.6L on a 402. We are building mine now for 800+ at this time.

Sorry to highjack your thread DanaliHD but I've been thinking about future projects and yours just so happens to be one I've considered. What I would like to know is, are you going to have any clearance issues with the 2.8L and your stock hood?
