Mesh in lower WS6 hood?

Mesh in lower WS6 hood? Hi,
I would like to put mesh in the lower nostrols of my WS6 hood.
Problem being I won't be able to open the hood right up easy.
Could I just cut the hock that stops my hood poping up, or will that stop me shutting the hood as well?
Anyone got any ideas how I could do this?
