Default When did you get tired of that power?

For those who currently own their first or remember owning their very first LSx car, when did you start getting used to and eventually tired of the stock power and torque?

I know it's a ridiculous question, but I know a lot of us here are power hungry and have taken 350-400 bhp for granted. Besides, I don't believe in a such thing as too much power.

At age 18, my current Camaro is my first LS1 car. After 2 weeks of owning, I started getting used to the stock power. After a month, I have grown tired of it. Am I crazy?

This is not my first "fast" car so the modding bug has settled down a little. My car is still mostly stock and I plan to keep it that way mainly because my car is just a weekend summer cruiser with maybe 1-2 trips to the track just for fun. When you start getting into modding a car more and more you start breaking things more and more which just isn't as fun for me.

Mine's a daily driver, so I don't take it up that high in the rev's much. But it's always nice knowing I have the power available. However it seems sometimes when I do rip on it, I wish it had a little more. Mods=good!

Within a month of driving it, I had ordered a Lid and smooth bellows... Oh and had it tuned. Now the headers are on the way and there is a nitrous kit sitting next to my bed right now.

This isnt my first car with this power level though, my last car was a cammed 95 Z28 and before the stock cammed motor, it had a fully built 383 that I unfortunatly blew up while running a Lambo on the highway... The blowup was worth it though, I was 2 cars ahead when it happened, so at least I had that under my belt.

LMAO!! .. Half an hour after I dropped the cash for at the dealer it was already at the muffler shop then 2 hours after that I was already calling Summit for a few things! Now that I recently granaded the motor I'm building a completely brand spank'n new one at the shop.

I had my car on the dyno a few days after I got the car, I had a lid on order the next day. I then started going through the "let's repair/replace" motions for a few months.

Ordered an '02 WS6 in '01. Took delivery of the car the first week of sept. '01. One month later the car had a new Lingenfelter 427, 12-bolt...etc. Killed that warranty dead, haha. In the last four years I have taken it a little more methodically, rather than completely transforming a car all at once. It took me three years to get my '99 SS to where it is now. I have had the '01 SS for nearly two years, and have built it gradually since i've had it. I'm going into the next phase with that car right now. Doin' a 12-bolt, tubular front suspension, new torque arm, Speed Inc. true duals, and replacing the 17" Z06's with 18" Z06's. In the fall it will be time for the LSX 454 that i've been dreaming about. Gonna build it N/A, and eventually go FI. A good project is never done. At some point I would like to put Fikse FM5's on one, if not both SS'. Might have to rob a bank for that though

I went from my 4 banger 1.9L Saturn to the Z28.

Bought the car in May '06, that made me broke unfortunatly, and we had just bought a house, so I had to do my modding "over time".
In Oct 06, I had all necessary parts for full exchaust (headers, catback, CatY, and Tune)
4 months later (Feb '07) Full suspension went on, I had to pay cash for that, that's why it took nearly 4 month.
4 months after that, the Current cam/springs/stall all went in. I had the parts, but had to save up for the labor.

I was (was being the operative word) happy with the car, so I left it as full exhaust, suspension, cam, and the stall......well, the gears were pissing me off BIG time since June of '07.

Well.....i was looking for a deal on a 10 bolt rear end, from all my research, a 12 bolt for what I do with the car is competely un necessary, and 10 bolts are "cheap". little bit of $ for labor and the part, and generally under $500 you're back on the road again....anyway....For about $500 this time, I swapped out my 2.73 rear with a M6 3.42rear.....wow, BIG difference.

My next plan is a set of heads!! $1200 for the heads, but will probably spend a little bit of $ on port work. If I can find a reasonable Fast 90/90 I will do that at the same time.

My goal is 480 RWHP/450 RWTQ. We'll see tho.

Modding - good!

I went from a 01 4 banger Sonoma to a 01 Z28, so kind of a big jump. But while im up at school and my car is sitting in the garage at home I cant do very much modding..... But when summer hits I plan on p&p the throttle body maybe a small to mild cam and tune because it needs it!

I'd say the first month or so but you can never have enough can you. You can say the bug bite me hard, over 15 g's so far and should make 1000fwhp easy. Look at my sig, don't feel like typing everything, LOL

I went from a mild 95 cammed Z28 to a 2000 H/C full bolt on TA so it took awhile as its only a weekend car. But when I did it I went all the way, new 408 FI, new trans, new rear. **** adds up fast

Back in 01 when My car was new I went back to the dealer to have them touch up the back bumper and seen the new 02 Camaro's had the 345HP package. I wanted mine to have the at least the same HP as the new ones did so I bought a lid and it didn't stop there. A few years later Later I wrecked that car, bought another one all stock, and had to start all over again. I felt like a sitting duck in that car so I started modding again.

Kind of a big gap between first month and first year IMO!
