Default 6.0 and a stock 5 speed

im looking for an LQ9 6.0 to do the swap for my 4.8 w/ a 5 speed tranny, do you think it could hold the power of a 6.0, 220/220 cam and an sts turbo?

I doubt any of GM's 5-speeds would lask long under those conditions. I'm a half-assed, fix it later kind of guy, but I wouldn't be too very tempted to expect much out of that situation!

Yeah...no it will break. Upgrade to a t56 if you want manual or go auto (much easier, and arguably just as fun with the right stall). Unfortunately GM has left us with few (like...one) modern manual trans to choose from for high HP applications.

the TR-3450 was used in the 2500 6.0 00-06 and 4.8's as a standard trans, i looked that in the TREMEC website.
it has to be a t56, i hate autos, so that will be a lot, about 1k for a 6.0 and 1500 for a t56 and installation, damn!

I opened this expecting to read that someone was going to try to use a T-5 behind a 6.0, & for the next person to predict a quick & violent death for the T-5...

Don't forget to factor in the cost for new rear gears. The T56 has a tall 1st gear, and even taller overdrive. 4.56 or higher...

Most of the tremec 3450/3550/TKO style trans are rated for nearly 500 ft/lbs.
How much boost are you going to make and if you're planing on drag racing it will determine if it lives.
I'm going with the TKO (0.68 OD) because I would need about a 3.90 rear end ratio to use the T56 0.5:1 OD.
