Completely custom interior?!
Just wondering. Now, I don't have a Camaro yet (getting it next month), and I was just wondering, has anyone redone their dash/console? I mean like complete.
Because I was interested in molding and making a completely custom console (CD player/AC down to the shifter) because I really don't like that old Chevy indent-like console. It just bothers me. I want to make a new one thats smooth like the Corvette's but not exactly like that. I want it to have some unique-ness (I'm really making up a lot of words today).
If anyones done this can you give me some idea as to how hard it is to mold this? I know a bunch of people do it for Carputers.

I wrapped all mine in leather, but I know what you're talking about.
I think the interior looks clean and simple the way it is in that area.
What year model are you talking about anyways?

Yeah but keep the cup. Also, you know how the stereo and climate controls sort of indent? like instead of smooth looks (like most modern cars now) it dips where the controls are? I want to eliminate that and make it blend with the dash better. I don't know if I'm explaining it right.

it wasnt too hard to do that, just took a dremel, some thin plastic, epoxy and bondo. im sure you could pull of what you are looking to do with some molding clay and fibreglassing

fiberglass work is very time consumming because it must be done in layers and it takes several than it has to be smoothed out, not uncommen to have 30 or so hours in a project like that,
i do like your idea of the climate controls but might be tuff to tackle with the factory controls, you would need to slide the climate control box out enough to be flush with the face of the radio bezel, then cut on the bezel until you got everything to set even then use some fiberglass/body filler to smooth out what you cut but you would also have to do the same to the radio to do it, im planning on tackling the center console soon i want something a little different, but not sure how im going to do it yet

Well, I'm going with a 7" touchscreen so I need to slim the climate control panel down slightly (I'd really like them to be the same width).
But I guess I'll be working on it for a while. But that doesn't bother me, I'll have all summer to do it.
Anyone ever tried an overhead info center? Like in Jeeps where it displays all the info? I was thinking of building some box like thing and sticking a Lingenfelter DashDAQ in it. It'd sit slightly above the rear view.

I'm fairly confident no one has reworked their entire dash but many have modified existing pieces.
I've redone the radio bezel and the center console.
Both using fiberglass and Bondo.
The process really isn't that hard, it's just difficult to get right.
If you have a plan go with it. You can pick up interior pieces for nothing.
And maybe you could move the HVAC control unit overhead.
Then you would have plenty of room for your screen.

Running wires up there is not a problem at all. Under the headliner and down the A-pillar.
I've wired a Homelink, rearview mirror and a dome light that route.
The problem you might see moving the HVAC controls up there is the ***** are not all electrical.
One **** works a vaccuum, another turns a cable and the last is electrical.
