Default Plugs on floor leaking, need some advice

Hey all,
My camaro has an interior leak, and I have tracked it down to the plugs on the floor. I have stripped the entire interior to a metal shell with the exception of the dash and headliner. I sprayed underneath the car with a hose after having a friend in the car and the floor well started to fill with water coming from the area of the rubber sealing plugs. Here is my problem:
1. I just called the dealer and they are $6 a piece, and there are seven of them. I dont want to pay nearly 50 bucks for little caps on the floor.
2. They will take a week to arrive, and while I have a DD, this needs to get back together.

The original plan was to replace them to be safe and then apply some RTV on the inner side of the sealing surface, but I might just resort to putting the old ones back in and applying RTV. Any advice that may help me? Please advise.

personally, I would just apply some RTV or any weather resistant sealant around them, let them dry a day or 2, then re-test them w/ a hose to verify that you fixed the problem. Save yourself some $$

/\ agreed! take each plug out and put a bead of sealant around the plug where it would meet the body. dont use rtv though, Geocel makes an excellent sealant called --Water ShieldŽ Elastomeric Copolymer Sealant. you can find it at most hardware stores.

Thanks guys. LS1<girlfriend, I appreciate the referral of the sealer product. I kinda had a feeling that RTV wouldnt be suited for the job. I'm gonna go do it now before it gets dark. I'll let you all know how it goes. If anybody else has anything to say, tell me now before the interior goes back in on saturday.

I removed mine and siliconed aluminum patch panels over them. Then I riveted those into place.
