Default +/- of T-Tops

i have never owned a T-Top car, so i would like to hear some ideas if T-Tops would be a good on the car i am going to get. i am planning on getting an LS1 SS camaro. i will be drag racing it, but it will also be my daily driver. i was wondering, any problems with leaking? would tech at the strip give me and issues because of T-Tops? and anything else i may have forgetton to ask.
TIA!

sometimes they will leak,(easy fix, get new seals) it was worse on the 93-97 in my experience anyways, the track wont give you any problems, except that they must be on in order to race...but thats a given. other than that if you should be fine, if you dont have the covers for them then on a hot day your leather seats will get hot as ****. but seeing your in IL it shouldnt be nearly as bad as OK, or TX

I have a small leak from it. I'm not surprised though, as my car has a lot of miles on it. Aside from that, some say it's slightly heavier.

On a sunny day, its great to drive with the tops off though.

T-tops are great! I very much recommend them. I got a replacement passenger side t-top about a year ago cuz my drunk friend reached up and pulled the handle on the freeway thinking it was an "oh **** handle" and it flew off the car like an ejection roof or something.. and needless to say, the car was pulled over immediately and he got out. forcefully. to the point tho, my replacement leaks (drips really) but the factory ones that came with the car should be great!

little heavier but worth the extra lbs, especially if its your dd or weekend/sunshine driver.

if you were building a strictly drag/race car then id say get a hardtop

For a daily driver, nothing beats them on a nice day. Incredible.

Downsides are they may leak a little in heavy rain and can fly off the car at speed if not locked (even when properly installed and latched). Happened to me and to my son's car also.

t-tops are an amazing invention. nothing beats cruising down ocean parkway (south shore, long island) with the t-tops off.

if i could go back i would get a hard top i didnt take them off once this year honestly! first time to the strip didnt have a helmet, mandatory on a ttop car even stock. eventually they start leaking more and u have to worry about your friends grabbin the handles at WOT and them flying out. they are nice every now and the though. i say go without if u have the option! my panel behind them looks terrible too all bubbled to ****. my friends two hard tops no bubbles at all!

I say no t-top......
hardtops has a stiffer body just a little and its also lighter......
plus dont have to hassle with leaks and stuff like them flying off which happens often!!!
and also how many t-tops have you seen on the road with the t-tops off???
U will use them at first but then your not gonna bother taking them off and putting them in the back....
i live in california perfect weather year round but i never seen my friends drive with them off....

I keep my t tops locked unless I remove them.

I just got my car in the fall and it was really sweet driving around with the tops off (even if the rest of the car is rather beat looking lol). Figures though, wrong time of year to get them - started to really enjoy it then had to put them on and leave them on only a month or two later due to the cold and snow in winter

edit: my passenger t-top leaked a little bit when I got the car (was a replacement top apparently but was OEM), just needed to adjust how it sat a little bit and no more leaks.

I love my t tops. Great for sunny days. I can work on my wife beater tan with my mullet flapping in the wind.

Plus, girls love looking at the moon and stars, be it through the glass, or with the t-tops off. Regardless, all tops come off soon after.

My t-tops on my WS6 have a slight leak, but the car doesn't go out in the rain so it's no big deal to me... I take the t-tops out pretty much any time I'm driving it..

The Formula is the one that sees track time and it's a hardtop.
