This weekend at TRRP everyone with slicks or drag radials gets to TnT for $10. They are trying to get some rubber on the track

Crap, I have to go to Oklahoma City for a few days for work. I want to bring out the Mustang to see if it can hang with a near stock ls1.

what rpm do you usually speed shift at?
5900~6000, I've always Lifted, tried power shifting once and didn't like the noise my car was making. and Short shifting = more mph? That explains the 13.7 @ 108...

You'll be alright to run your stockers for a while. I personally would put injectors in my budget for a cam and ported heads combo. Ask some of the guys who have run out of fuel on the dyno with stock injectors. FIC will rebuild, rejet, and flow match your stockers to whatever specs you want.

If you are talking about spraying, fueling is not an area to go cheap on. Go lean once and say bye bye
When you run a wet kit it pulls fuel off the fuel rail and mixes with the nitrous in the nozzle or in my case plate, so reading plugs and making a quick jet change your good to go. If I had a dry kit I would need larger injectors to make up the fuel in the chamber. I will have a safety switch on the fuel and nitrous to shut the system down if one or both drop psi to save the motor!

Cold06

Yea that's where the pump and a wet kit comes in, injectors only matter on a dry kit

Yeah, I understand how a wet kit works. The problem is, with a cam and ported heads you will be maxing out stock injectors. Some have better luck, some have worse. Going slightly lean NA may not be that big of a deal, but imagine if you are spraying.....the consequences could be a lot worse.

Thats cool. Just check your duty cycle on your injectors at WOT. You aren't "supposed" to run them over 80%. However, Im sure tons of people have in the past. Just something to think about.

They say to calculate 80% when you get new injectors just so you have room to grow and not be maxed out. Todd told me he had 104% in blue thunder.

01ssreda4
02-24-2011, 12:21 AM
Well I personally wouldn't run 100% duty cycle. SAE is the one who says injectors are not supposed to run at over 80% duty cycle. I dont know their exact reasoning. Could be for injector longevity or engine reliability. Who knows.

Plus I just found these http://www.mccormackracing.com/product_images/racestar_92_dragstar.jpg
so Im in no hurry because my mechanic is gonna charge me $600 to install everything so its not like I have to do it here and there when im off plus works picking back up so If all goes good on this pay period ill have over 4k to finish it where on Monday I would of had 2k now I have 1400

Back to the injector topic....Correct the injectors should not be over 80%. However, that is a sustained #. Kind of like tires' mph rating. A tire may be rated at 135 mph, but that is for a sustained amount of time.

Peaking out at over 80% for a brief moment is fine, just make sure you have the fuel pressure to back it up. For the setup Cold is going to be running, of course it is ideal to install new injectors, but the stock ones will get you by for a while. You will more than likely be near 80 % n/a, and close to 100% on the spray, but yes the fuel side of the n2o kit will help in case the injectors begin to fail. Don't worry, I won't let your car lean out. If I begin to think that it won't handle it, I will have you replace them.
Sometimes...just fyi, these guys injectors are maxing out because the cars are not tuned properly. These tuners won't calibrate the fueling setup or they calibrate with the O2 sensors on, making the O2 sensors do all the work which can adversely affect the fuel injectors.

Anyway, if you don't have money for the injectors now, not a problem. I had 28s on Blue Thunder which was hitting 10.2x in the 1/4, so I'm sure yours will do o.k.

Good looking wheels Cold. Those will look Great! Oh, thanks for the compliment. Another success story from New Orleans last night. Another one of my buddies went from 12.7 in the 1/4 to 11.97. The difference, QTPs and he came to visit me. hehe ;) He had a difference of 0.466 60' and a difference in the 1/4 of 0.74 So, subtracting the 60' difference from the 1/4 difference, and I gained him 0.274 out of power under the curve. That's a beautiful thing considering his car was already tuned.

No joke! But then, people would actually require that their cars constantly have good a/f ratio. Which means they would all be running as efficiently as possible. Therefore, it would be even more difficult to be the fastest around. LOL! :drive:

Injectors are much cheaper than a bottom end rebuild. Go to lean one time and #7 will be the first to go. Then you'll be in the same boat I'm in. Better to be on the safe side if there's any question.

I would love to see your tune, then maybe I could see why that happened to you. If you didn't have an injector go out or get weak, then something else caused it. I could tell you alot once I got into your computer. If you want to hit me up, I could make some time for you on one of my trips to Shreveport. Don't worry, it won't cost anything. Sanderson headers always have the welds come out. It is part of their design. The welds never look that ugly though. They always stand behind their product. And yes, their design is gasketless. You use sealant. It usually works out wonderfully.

Wheel studs, not sure the stock length. However, even with a 5/16 spacer, if running a 4" or less front wheel, you can stay with the stock studs. Just go to autozone and buy closed lugnuts with a long shank. It will grab enough threads to make you NHRA legal. It doesn't say threads must come out of the nut, they must go in the nut, equal to the width of the stud.

That flange weld is what seals against the gasket. They should all be milled flat and seal fine. Overall they look a little thrown together but Im sure they would work just fine.

Yep. My cam only car was maxing 26's at 109%. Greg and I got my stock injectors down to 93% and car picked up about .12. I would be scared to death to try tuning without a WB

Well you see, that's where the price is decided. All the permits, travel, guides, equipment, and time required to go on a moose hunt and actually kill it can often reach 50k, not to mention the field dressing, transportation, preservation, and taxidermy work. The price is not from what market says is fair, but from the "build" costs.

01ssreda4
02-28-2011, 02:32 PM
But the laws of supply and demand still apply in the market. What will the free market bare? I dont think any of us here could recoup "build" cost from our cars.....And cars are still something used as transportation. But find the right buyer, and who knows what anything is actually worth.

As soon as I order my shocks I'll be taking them off...

oh yeah...is there a way to test to find out if you have oil circulating because my oil pressure gauge is reading 0 but before I pull my intake, I would like to make sure it's not the oil sending unit.

If you have an aftermarket (non GM) unit it's probably the problem.

Just get a mechanical gauge and put it where your sending unit is if possible, i dont know the size threads, it would actually be cheaper to just go buy another sending unit and if it still is reading 0 take the sensor back and goto a mechanical gauge to double check the pressure

Shutdown Theory, I have a set of cats off a 99 T/A. Make me an offer cause I'm about to haul them and alot of other metal and junk to the scrap yard for some gas money.

Well today I got to finish the Harley. Converted the front over to a Wide Glide setup and raked it 5*, then powder coated the triple trees and fork lowers, and lowered the 2" overall. I'm measuring for the front brake line in the morning and making the spacer's to mount the fender, but that'll be easy.

Also did some swapping with Bud and got some 17x9 & 11 ZR1's with some 315 Nitto's in the back. They're holding better than I thought on the street, but the cam and 4.10's still givem hell. Need to hit the track soon to see what street trim runs.

I'm not on here much anymore, but if any of yall need help with something and I'm off I'm more than happy to help out or do. Like most on here I do all of my work and have access to a lift on most occasions. Depends on how busy my dad's shop is. I think I have most all the guys numbers on here that have been around for awhile but none of the new guys. If yall wanna swap shoot me a PM.

Anyone local have a working oil pump they would part with for some cash or beer?
I got ripped off by a dude on here. Said he shipped it priority USPS. Two weeks ago. Nothing ever came in.

... once I said I have two of them and that you can have either one you want...

I'll hit you up later Hilton. If I have time I can drop by tomorrow.

If you have time huh?

That looks great. I like that it doesn't have door bars. (Will it have door bars?) I also like how close the cage fits to the car. I've seen some that had big gaps. This doesn't scream, "I HAVE A ROLL BAR!" Tasteful.

You also did a great job getting it through the carpet in the back. I know interior noise reduction is probably not a priority, but did you consider some sound deadening material while you have the interior out?

Cold, I don't see 9.s but 10.s shouldn't be far away.

Chris, the cage looks nice and it does fit really well. BTW what are you going to do with your stock exhaust tips? I want to cut the plate box out of my roll pan and run c5 tips out the middle of it with a dual in/out borla xr1.

Thanks Hilton. It may have swing-out door bars at some point but this is all I wanted for now. My wonderful girlfriend got it for me for a Christmas present and couldnt be happier. For a brief moment, I thought about sound deadening, but really just forgot about any second thoughts. I can literally have the back carpet out in under 2 minutes so that part isn't a big deal. The carpet was actually hard to cut because I'm such a perfectionist and it still didn't quite meet my standards around the rear bars. Lol
