You would want mine ad a short block, b/c you having a 01 have 241s which is a better flowing head and my heads need new valve guides. But I will sell you my Shortblock for 600

everything is plug and play only thing different is pin placement on the 98 harness and computer. using your harness it wouldn't matter. you need to let a local tune tune your car I would suggest Todd aka bluethunder racing 2 b/c you need a a/f ratio dialed in

What I would do Is have my motor freshen up get a fresh hone, re-ring, new bearings, rod bolts. all can be done wile you continue to drive your car, Im sure 01ssreda4, SicLsx ect can do this for you! Just have piece of mind ya know motors got 100k on it it would be smart to send another couple hundred $$ to make it fresh!

A motor is just a motor. Any model Gen 3 motor can go in our cars without issue. No wiring would have to be changed for you to run a 97 LS1 or and 06 5.3 or anything inbetween. :nod:

Beat me to it. This is exactly right. I know personally. Mine is a 98 with a newer motor in it. The engine harness plugs right up without any mods whatsoever.

Does anybody know the signs when it's time for a new slave cylinder ?

There's 2 ways that I know for certain and that is after a bleed and drain of the reservoir if the fluid turns black again within a week or two it time for a new slave. The other way is if you bleed it and bleeds back down or the symptoms stay the same (i.e. pedal sticking or inconsistant pedal engagement) but this way can also be the master cylinder. The stock master or OE replacement's are hit or miss on longevity. I've been lucky and have gotten 30k out of mine so far. Some other ways are notchy shifts or won't go into gear, but alot of times that's do to air in the lines and not the components. I've studied these 6 speeds not just on here but on my own. The best way to keep from having problems is to stay on top of your maintenance. I change the clutch fluid as soon as it starts to change color and do a flush and bleed every time the fluid slightly turns colors. DOT 4 works really good along header wrap on the line. Hope that helps. If you have any more questions just ask.

Building the go kart finally. Found a warrior 350 with a gsxr 600 motor on it. Picked it up yesterday and started on the kart today. It should be fun.

Well a atv is like a bike. That thing gets stupid and you can tuck and roll. Im putting a racing seat in this thing with a nice set of 5pt harnesses. Not sure they would allow it to make a pass because of how small the roll cage is.

spool are not as bad on tires as u would think. Its not like u drive yours everyday. my rear tires are 2 year old and are about gone and have about 3k miles with spool now and not crazy extra ware from it. I agree, I used to have a spool in my 84 Monte Carlo SS. I drove the car to Ruston everyday to school and I went through rear tires fast, other than that it didn't bother me to bad. I eventually swapped it out and went back to a posi. Just depends on how much you plan on driving the car.

Pulled the seat and cage off the kart. I think the cage is going to stay off and just build a nice hoop over the top of my seat when i decide which one im going to use.

Steve, i dont plan on rolling but for those just in case situations im going to put a hoop behind my seat and run a brace to each side of the kart to keep it in place if something happens. As for the frame, fuck it lol. It this think snaps somewhere ill just take it apart and find a motorcycle frame. ;)

mconway68w, No i didnt ride it. The guy i got it from never finished it and just wanted it out of his way. So $100 later the quad is pulled apart and the kart is going together.

I bolted tracks to the seat and bolted it in today along with putting the steering wheel in the middle of the kart. Its coming along nicely. I plan on extending the swing arm 8 inches and building motor mounts this weekend. Ill post pics as i go.

Yep, ran a spool in my moser for a while. Tore up my tires pretty quickly. Also, made me have to check adjustments on my rear suspension all the time. Lock nuts would come loose every now and then. Went back to posi as soon as I could.

Yea Im not gonna be a cheap ass but its hard not to with the cash Im spending here the past few days! Talking to MWC in the gear section gonna order part to rebuild mine if it will old the 4.10s not sure what carrier will let me use them if not Im gonna buy the Eaton that I posted earlier. Gonna be a beast! Drag radials will be here Thursday! Try to make it to the track Friday and see what my true base line is!

The now deceased tranny was a built 4l80e but it tolerated many 1/4 mile passes as well as a lot of 150mph plus highway runs. It had only been in the car two years but I had put about 55,000 miles on the car in that period. No complaints, it served its purpose for longer than any of the four high dollar 4l60 I trashed. Thanks for the link Josh, hopefully that guy will split the set and thanks for the props Shane.

As for the carnage, I was on a remote Mexican highway running in excess of 130mph when BAM... all hell broke loose. The loud bang got my attention but when the ass end was about 5 feet off the ground I was pretty worried. I immediately pushed it into neutral and shut the engine off. I thought I had blown the motor due to all the smoke but as I regained control and started to slow down, I could hear the driveshaft beating the subframe connectors and duals all to hell. Thought the driveshaft broke and caused all the problems until we got it on a rack to discover the bellhousing is destroyed and the tranny failure is what caused the driveshaft to shear into right in the middle. One hell of a ride that night.

Finish painting the rear end/bottom of fuel tank, and the heat shield for the Clutch MC line and the line itself. He told me because the big boss was there I couldn't but I should try going at around 5 when the guy with the Sky was the only guy there.

I finished the rear in my parking lot but still want to spray this header paint on that heat shield/line.

Also, is it safe to power wash the engine compartment? want to clean it really good next week.

Power steering pump, bracket, and steering rack, alternator and bracket, tensioner pulley, fuelrails, PCM, and probably some other BS stuff I'm forgetting.

I have truck coil packs on there now, if anyone wants them, I'll trade you straight up for a set made for our cars.

Anyone out there that can help me pull my valve cover and check my valvetrain for the loss of compression in number 7? I want to be sure it's not just in the head before I rebuild the bottom end.

My rails are off a 02/returnless. Just run a vette fuel filter if your car is factory return.

You have to drop the k member at least a few inches. The solid mounts raise the engine up too far. The motor will NOT tilt with these mounts. Thats one of the reasons I sold them to Johnny. They just aren't for me.

Yea that's it, it has 150k I think not exactly sure but runs hella good. The only thing is that the a/c works but doesn't blow out the vents only the top and bottom. He just had a SS spoiler painted and put on this week so all it needs now is the spoiler.

Well I have yet to see an auto keep up with an M6 mod for mod like everyone says. Maybe you auto guys need the driver mod. My tranny is built, it has and will have the proper clutch/hydraulics, and the rear will be in before too much longer. But so far, mod for mod the auto guys that talk shit are the ones left behind. Time slips don't lie and you can speculate and assume all you want, but like I said TIME SLIPS DON'T LIE and neither does video. Someone (you'll see) will say well I was on street tires at the track. Well oh fucking well. Don't come to race in street trim at a RACE track. There isn't VHT on the street and we all know 90% of the time we wont hook on the street. So even if you say you wanna see what it'll do on the street your still not on the street. The car that hooks wins on the street. I know my car is on par for a cam only full weight car on a drag setup. And as far as slow M6's in straight line or manuals in racing period you need to look around a little bit more. The fastest M6 comes out of Texas in the 8's N/A and Indy cars weren't always paddle. They used clutch before but didn't need it to shift just to start going so technically they are still manuals. Paddle shifter's are for fags.

Your gonna be in for a rude awakening when this goes down again. 3rd gear at a 50mph roll was to make it as even as possible cause I knew your auto was gonna lug and like I said I didn't wanna get loose and hit your car or tear mine up. It's not worth all that. Your story and my story is different, but I remember seeing the red SS getting drug at the top of 3rd and 4th was getting worse til I let out. 2nd at that mph is my absolute sweet spot but it's 80/20 on traction alot of times, but when it does hook it's a beast. And you know I can drive my M6 unlike other's :secret2:

Yea that's it, it has 150k I think not exactly sure but runs hella good. The only thing is that the a/c works but doesn't blow out the vents only the top and bottom. He just had a SS spoiler painted and put on this week so all it needs now is the spoiler.

Easy fix on the a/c. Probably a broken or disconnected vacuum line.

Not sure really. He was doing headers, exhaust, motor mounts and intake and tb. We discovered his pcv system was completely thrashed when he was in there messing with it, lines cut, melted or something. So i think hes been rounding up all those little fittings. Hell if you saw him out on location you've probably seen me a time or two. We both work at the same place. Thats the guy I said was gonna get a t/a a while back when I pm'd you about the car you saw for sale. Hes doing full bolt ons and getting a tune. Then hes doing h/c and he'll get himself tuned up again.

Well, I ran it bottom of 3rd through the limiter of 4th and let off. Judged the speed and avoided a rev-match perfectly; putting it gently in 5th. Gave it quarter throttle to maintain 75mph and BOOM, grenade went off under the car.

Agreeing with Steve here, Hilton, the break is oriented in the MIDDLE of the shaft... and it's not even a "twist" effect, the sumbitch virtually shattered in a clean kinda "break" effect..

went to track tonight...I got slower. best was 13.4 @ 109 w/ 2.2 or 2.3 60FT. Best 60 FT was 2.1 and I ended up missing 3rd so the run was botched. I miss my drag radials street tires suck. (Best ET/MPH to date is 13.1 @ 106. on drag radials and before long tubes)

I got a friend that had magnaflow catback and long tubes and ory and had some rasp. Well we put a cutout on it and he didn't like it to much. So we put a bullet in front of the cutout and was still loud but cleaner and took rasp out of it when close and most of it out when open.

I have no idea how its actually gonna sound....I figure the cut-out will sound like dog shit but thats about how they all sound so its expected. I'm hoping the Magnaflow is tame but decent at WOT.

Then find a tuner anyone know a good one....lol
