Good job Ren. Question though. You don't have a problem with the rear tires unloading with the car rocking back and forth like that? You get that sucker smoothed out so there isn't wasted energy in constant weight transfer, and you'll really be movin' out!

The Tires don't unload till I hit the clutch, I have been working hard for the past couple of months to get that problem solved. The most important part of the run is the hit and when i hit the tires they bite and have a little bit of wheel spin (which is necessary for clutch cars) before i put shocks on the car I was having about 3-4 revolution of tire spin before the car moved.

Not to mention this was the wildest pass. As soon as my buddy uploads a couple more normal passes I will put them up.

Yeah here on m6 cars doubles are a must on front. I have singles too. They set loose for up and stiff on down setting. Keeping front end up And so it wont bounce around.

Roll out on the clutch instead of dumping it and it shouldnt bounce.

you cant role out a 1.4x 60ft... you tune it out with shock or spring

a two step is next on the list, to make things easier. Eventually putting a real clutch in it will be the kicker but i dont have enough money for that.

I'm going with a diamond clutch next. Same a monster with different name what I've been told.

I am more talking about a lock up/soft loc, or however you would like to call them. But they start at a pretty hefty price. About the cheapest you can get into a new one is around 2700-3k

In a way yes. I was there running QR and TD. I had NO problems what-so-ever running a 7.31 @ 186mph though. They said a bunch of the super stock guys we're having problems getting down the track and could not "legally" cancel one class and run the others.

Something was a little strange with the deal because earlier this year they had canceled Top Sportsman and ran the other classes. I guess thats what "money" can do for you :eyes:

Found out that my 20s w/ tires weigh 75lbs a piece. Front 17" steelies with 225/50s and the rear stock 17" TB wheels with MT 275/40s both weigh 52.5lbs a peice. Whew!!

Run 17x7 and 17x11 street lites. 20s on a fbody is a huge no no!

Blaine you need to get to Prescott track surface looks great I actually tried it out in a 2010 camaro I was tuning they had just started dragging it was a real surprise with as little rudder they had got down the camaro went down it had no problems even on street tires no more bumps down track on either side that hard tail dragster will like that. The camaro was a heads and cam car that does not hook at anything under 40 mph on the street. The Penhall guys know what they are doing when it comes to grinding and polishing a race track

Yea it's pretty black, I may do the " Andy " method for tonight lol. He said he uses a turkey baster.

What I did. Suck it out clean inside with paper towel. The fill up abd pump up clutch a lot and do it all over again. Do it a Few times. Each time its gets more clear. If it'd black its a big problem

Yours will do well, but remember your compression is low in preperation for future mods......so your times won't be as good as they could be. Just setting you up so you have an excuse in case you screw it up. :D

Yes stockers are on limited tires and some we're even clutch cars. I really don't see the owners doing much with bracket racing at all. I've heard only about 8 cars show up and 5 out of those 8 are one guy and a buddy.

If anything I would guess that IHRA will drop the track and the owner will keep the Friday night TNT and maybe the same for Saturday nights. Apparently they have no intentions to keep bracket racing or so it seems.

It was a big blow to the balls when IHRA cancelled the event, once those guys show up and don't hook NO ONE will want to go back.

Looks like we will be at Prescott 99.9% of the time. Thats really our home track, but I was really looking forward to running some Pro-Am and Summit Super Series this year. At least Prescott is trying to go IHRA. Not changing their rules on Friday or Saturday, but being sanctioned will draw some of the guys like us that want a chance to run some of the divisional racing and etc.

Not many people from what I know have problems. Discussing the issue with tuners, though, you will know that the results and ease of tuning both sets will reveal a clear winner. ID is the only company I know of that provide the data that is needed to perfectly dial in an injector to give the absolute best idle and off idle characteristics. It does come with a price though and I know the feeling of trying to justify the cost.....LOL

Guys i am in Yuma AZ right now and i swear fast and furious threw up in this place. I have never seen so many ricers in one town in my life, I can't throw a rock and not hit something riced out. When i flew in the rental company put me in a 2 dr. civic and 2 days of a 20 minute drive to work every morn i had 6 different ricers try to race me. I had to take the car back and get a 4 door toyota so people would leave me alone lol. If you have anything with a V8 you would dominate the streets here. The streets are so flat long and deserted 4 lanes so they are pretty much perfect for racing...unfortunatly the highway patrol knows this and they are crawling all over this place.

Be very careful out there!!! I know the area well. I have been there many times being a Marine and all. Anyway, there are a few things to watch out for. 1. Getting in a fight with a bunch of drunk Marines (it is a Marine town, you will lose). 2. Going on the base while driving drunk (you will lose). 3 Get in a fight with a bunch of Mexicans (you will get shot or stabbed).
4. Tons of illegals and drugs 5. As you said, cops are every where.

Ive tried to sell this thing on and off for awhile now. Its time for it to go. Ive hauled off all of my parts trucks and this car will go monday if someone doesnt come get it.

It will bring about $250 for scrap so if someone brings me that they can have it. The car needs a front pump seal put in the trans, i have the seal already. It needs a new top, they run about $200 on ebay. It will also need some cleaning. No reason someone couldnt put a few hundered in the car and sell it for $1500 or so. It does run but will need some tlc. I have the title so come get it or its going to get crushed!!!

Car has white(ish) leather interior seats have no rips to the best of my knowledge but the carpet will need to be shampooed.

Dash is digital and there is no battery in the car but i think it has like 17x,xxx miles on it. May be more may be less. I really cant remember.

on front and i dont think i want to keep those.

I had 8 ply MT sportsman's. My car will never have those again for street. They sucked. Pushed in corner, only lasted like 2k miles, floted around at high speeds. I love my 165/80. If I was going to spend the money get the MT sportsman's SR radials.

Sorry guys been away for awhile. Have had some serious health issues so now having to be careful and do things differently. (mainly no drinking nomore) I have been playing with a 64 Buick Lesabre 4 door for awhile now and Im thinking of finishing it up since the doctor said I needed a better hobby.

I will have to redo the brakes, axles, put a motor/trans in it. I say this cause its just been sitting for a few years. I have decided to use a lsx motor maybe a 6.0 or 5.3. Ive been looking at converting the rear end to a disc brake one and a few other suspension changes to handle the new power plant.

I have someone to do my head work for me that is pretty good and I will add a cam to it also and leave it alone for a little while.

I have also wanted to build a s10 with a similar setup and kinda daily drive it for a toy.

S10's are fun, light, and easy to make quick while still getting ok mileage. Ive had both body style s10's and both body style blazers.

Ive always got my front tires from Jim South.

Well the s10 wont be on the road for a little while. I got to looking up rod bolts and thinking pros and cons.

If i dont do bolts
A bolt could break causing major damage to my block, heads, crank ect.

If i do put bolts in
I still stand a chance or spinning a bearing.

Ive decide to order a rebuild kit and replace rings, bearings, gaskets, oil put, katech rod bolts, ls2 timing chain, cam bearing, ls7 lifters, ect. I have $7000 tied up in this truck and would be pissed if i dropped my 150k mile motor in the truck and something fail as soon as a few days. I might could get by but id rather not take a chance. At least this way the motor will be fresh, trans is new, only thing to worry about would be the rear. I just feel this would be the smarter thing to do. Plus id feel better about turning it past 6,000 rpm's. Who wants a big cam and only turn it 6k? I also wouldnt be so worried about putting nitrous on a worn out motor. Any input?

Edit: May also see if i can find a set of LQ9 pistons and ditch these dish tops. Gotta check on ptv clearance first.

I would stick that motor in as is and limit my rpms to 6500 max. Thats plenty for an MS3, look at one of their dyno graphs.

Depends on the year of the motor. Starting in 2005 they all got the same rods.

my 6.0 i just parted out was a 05 and didnt have the nice ls2 rods

rod bolts
stock ls1 are good to max of 6800
stock ls6,ls2 and 6.0's are good to 7000

So 6800 is safe for a 6.0! I have 132k miles on my ls1 and 45k of them have been at 6800 and sees it a lot more then a auto with more gears and i dog the piss out of my car. Adding arp bolts is extra security 90% of the time when the motors blow up its the rod bolts breaking and i would do if i have my motor out. As far as looking for another set of stock rods and piston its not worth the money and time for 5-8hp!

So should I just put rod bolts in it and let it eat? I doubt ill take it past 6500 and wot put more than a 125 shot on it. Think it would be fine for awhile?

Why not forge it and have the peace of mind that it can take whatever you throw at it? I'm doing forged piston and rods from TSP for my 6.0 block. Gonna be about 1200 bucks or so, but worth it in the long run. You can get em for stock bore as well.

I've got some lq4 piston and rods if anyone's interested. Not sure on the miles, but look pretty good. Just need some new rings. Sic knows they look pretty good. $100.00 or best offer

Because if I build my motor then ill need another trans. I plan on changing the whole setup next year and going forged with a th400. This 700r will be pushed to the limit with a stock motor on 150 shot. No need to build up the bottom end until I can use it. Just my opinion. Also think I'm over wanting to rebuild it. For what a stock rebuild would cost I could just buy a low mile lq9.

In that light of a truck I would go th350 or glide. Th400 will add weight and kill some power. Friend Tj in a heavyer car with 650hp 9 sec car had over 300 passes on th350 and now has a glide with over 150 passes and had tons of street miles on both neither broke. He went faster with the glide over the th350. Th350 and glide are both faster then a th400

Well this has turned out to be a great week. First we got 3 free nights in a suite at boomtown. Then my wife turns $10 into $544. We go to johnnys to eat pizza and take $40 in. Food was $31 so she took the 5 and took the 4 and put them in a machine. She hit $112 and I lost my 4 lol. She wanted to go to Kittlers so now I have mls head gaskets, arp head, and rod bolts. Well, I've tried staying off car forums since I've been gone, but now its just about time to come home (beginning of Jul hopefully). I've had 6 months thinking about what I'm going to do, and as usual, plans have changed.

I'm not going to post an official ad yet since I'm not there to show it, but I figured I'd check with the local thread to see if anyone wants my Camaro roller. It's an 02 Z28 35th anniversary car with good paint, great cond interior, but has a rebuilt title. From what I found before I left, it was an impact on the front left that was pulled out, as you can see in the pics, the hood doesn't line up quite right. Only other problems are the windshield is cracked, and the passenger rear floorboard is dented up a little. I'd like to keep the corvette wheels for the T/A, but for the right price I'd probably part with them. Preliminary thoughts are $1500 range for the car, and $2100ish with the rims. If someone is interested, this gives you about a month to get funds together I figured.

As far as plan changing goes, the 4.6 into my 88 turbo coupe may be changing. If I get rid of the T/A too I'll have a spare 6.0/T56 sitting around with an F-body turbo kit that could probably be made to fit the fox body bird. My dream car was a T/A, then the GTO came out and I wanted one of them. Well, I have no need for both, I only drove the GTO for 4 days before heading to Afghanistan, but I guarantee I'm not selling that for a long time, so that leaves the two F-bodys as probably leaving. Pics of the T/A are in my album if there's interest in it, but I'm not decided on selling it quite yet, still trying to justify keeping it to the other half when I have 9 vehicles.

By wearing contact lenses instead of glasses and not wearing underwear, I plan to shave off enough weight to account for the heat!

Far as I know all he changed was the Idle some, it was bucking when @ a stop sign or red light so he fixed that. I told him its the beast in that truck that doesnt want to stop lol

Yep, I tuned down my signature idle a little bit for him because it was just too much for his wife to daily drive. I took my aggressive idle all the way out, and Bud goes ....that sounds like crap....put some of that back in there, just not as much. So hopefully that is what he's riding with now.

Yep, got the motor back together and started it about 5 minutes ago. Its extremely loud and has a massive lope to it so i had to shut it down for the night. :( Ill get a few bugs worked out in the morning and do a little tuning and ill take a video to post. Also have to figure out what to do about my engine stand, it almost flipped over when i busted it off.

Well i gave in. Frame is undercoated and motor is bolted in. Putting the front clip back on tonight and then finishing the interior tomorrow. Trans will get picked up monday and its all down hill from there. May be on the road sooner than i though.

Rolled the truck out from under the shed for the first time in 5 months. Seats, fuel system, and trans are all thats keeping it off the road.

Shane if you ever plan on narrowing your rearend these would look good on there! 15x12 with a 5.5 backspacing....Will require longer studs though, selling for 250$

I can't decide. I want to back half it and make it a big tire truck but you know how people around here are. Big tires make it a race truck that nobody will race on the street. Then again it may never hook without them. Id like to have them but there not im not a big fan of the drag lites and my main priority is to get this thing on the road. Thanks for the offer though.

Thats the guy truck i bought the rims from, the tires were shot and didnt even hold air, and the S-10 he runs at prescott and ttr......Im getting my transbrake installed this weekend will will be shooting for 9's on 15 psi prolly next weekend!

Yep, trying to decide if i want to remove it and run a fuel cell or not. I dont like how it hangs down below the roll pan but i do like the fact that its all the way to the back of the truck and in the center. Could make for some good traction/wheelies lol.

We back-halfed/4-linked a S10 a few years back and used the blazer fuel tank set up. Couldn't even tell it was there visually. Once the truck sits all the way down, I bet you will forget about it.

Yes i am, hoping to get some nice 60's.... Im going back to 92 for now untill i can afford ID injectors and 2345 weldon pump....Will prolly use some race gas at the track just to be safe, still having problems setting up these pids in the scanner, if i had hair i would have pulled it all out by now lol and thanks for the help the other day, maybe sometime ill muster up and come off some money to pay ya to tune and show me how to also....my current tuner tunes real race cars everyweekend during this time of the year so between down time of my truck and his priorities its tough lol

Hello all from LA, we are looking to sponsor one, maybe two local cars. Our sponsorship would include a complete drive-train make-over, meaning engine, trans, and rear. Then we would do some removable graphics, a photo-shoot, and some cross-country promotion if the owner was willing to travel. If not, the obligation would be done after the photo-shoot. Car upgrades would be the owner's to keep from that point on. Our only requirements are a nice foundation cosmetically to start with....

My preliminary thoughts were the red SS I have seen so much of in this thread, and maybe one other. Do the guys that know him think he would be interested? Does anyone have any suggestions for another possible car? Feel free to post up your suggestions here in this thread..
