How did the alt swap turn out?

Turned out great. This is the first NEW alternator I've ever bought. I put it in last night, then drove her to the car wash to rinse her off. There were a couple high school age guys there who came over to talk cars with me. They kept offering to pay me to work on their truck. I recommended keeping the truck stock and buying a toy that they don't have to rely on to get to work and back. I told them that instead of paying someone to weld up a custom exhaust that they should spend that money on a used welder and learn to do it themselves. I also told them to never start smoking and to wear rubbers. HAHAHAHA.

I drove Dorothy to work today. On my lunch I drove to Service Tire and had the front tires balanced. Solved my steering wheel shake problem completely! They were cool enough to let me put the wheels back on the car. I'm kinda funny about that.

With a specialized wheel I can understand. I never even take the car up to tire service shops, I pull the wheels and carry them up by themselves.

Just for shits and giggles, I cut my old oil filter open this morning. It was fairly clean, even though I used a cutoff wheel to hack it open. When I did my oil pan swap, I did notice a few metal shavings in the pan but didn't think it was anything major. Hopefully it's not time for a new shortblock and only a new oil pump fixes the issue.

Yeah, but mine isnt a beast like that one. It's just a Kawasaki 400 4x4 thats about to get a lift, a winch, and a rejet by winter. Its an older atv but still does what its supposed to do. Building an audio pipe for it also. If we ever get some rain, Im gonna hit Highlifter park again. That was fun on a dry day so I can only imagine after a good rain. I like the kiddie holes lol

These new atvs are redonkulous on price and power. Mine was free and just needed a carb cleaning, front tires, brakes all around, and swing arm bearings. I think I have $400 in it now and its actually pretty stout in a mud hole. I got outlaws on the front and gators in the back. $400 in a free atv isn't too bad huh?

SDPC still uses Sunset Racecraft to assemble their shortblocks and many complain about oil usage, etc.

Texas-speed use to use this shop with many of the same complaints. However, they do all their machining in-house, now. I'd be willing to choose Texas-Speed over SDPC.

Most dynojets (Like the one at ETMC) don't have a load ability to simulate the load the car experiences on the street. With a loaded dyno, the tuner can apply a load to the rollers to help stimulate the same load the car experiences on the street.

No need to use the dyno to tune your nitrous. I can dial it in perfectly on the street. I have plenty of tuning space here. No worries. Then, if you want, you can strap her down for your print out, and for me to squeek out a couple more just for your sheet of paper, then back it down to where I had you for a good street tune.

Those are both the complete email bodies from recent ads.

Ramps have a dip enough to hold at the angle, other than that I tested the e-brake going down my trailer ramps and liked how they held, so I crammed the lever back as far as I could. I still don't like the angle, and usually level the car out if its gonna sit for a day, but I gave it some good tugs and it wouldn't move, so it'll do till I get off work tomorrow.

Never saw the cat. He put a few claw holes in the seat. It's small enough, I can probably patch em with a leather repair kit. It's more noticeable to me than anyone else. They still look really good in the car.

Glad you like them other than that. My suggestion would be a humane trap in the garage. Then once you've got it leave him on Chef Lee's doorstep or take him on a ride to that aligator farm place.

Actually, that is a BT2R idle. You could have a GM Hotcam and I can make it idle like that. If it's too aggressive, I can always tone it down to sound like a normal cam idle. It's kind of a trademark of mine to set them up that way. I have a car club that I sponsor in Mississippi that has about 9 cars in it that I've tuned. When they come rolling into a parking lot, they get alot of attention all sounding like that. LOL!

I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you. LOL! It is in the idle timing. It is a combination of advance and retard. It will do it at any rpm you set your idle for. If your cam is large, I set it to idle at 850-950, if it's small 750-850. Just depends on what the car likes. Doing it via timing makes it a steady idle with a steady lope so it sounds like a heart beat vice depending on the cam lobes to do it so it doesn't sputter and puke out while you chase a sound. Also, it makes for nice "booby shake" when sitting at a light and looking at your passenger. (Just hope it isn't man boobs...LOL!) It can not be done with a factory cam, only seems to work with aftermarket cams. It almost can't be done with a gm hot cam, but I was able to find a way to make it work. People spaz out thinking it's an extremely high compression motor with a huge cam, and here it is a little bigger than stock and still drives like stock without sputtering, puking, choking, etc. Really sounds good with a supercharger.......:D

I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you. LOL! It is in the idle timing. It is a combination of advance and retard. It will do it at any rpm you set your idle for. If your cam is large, I set it to idle at 850-950, if it's small 750-850. Just depends on what the car likes. Doing it via timing makes it a steady idle with a steady lope so it sounds like a heart beat vice depending on the cam lobes to do it so it doesn't sputter and puke out while you chase a sound. Also, it makes for nice "booby shake" when sitting at a light and looking at your passenger. (Just hope it isn't man boobs...LOL!) It can not be done with a factory cam, only seems to work with aftermarket cams. It almost can't be done with a gm hot cam, but I was able to find a way to make it work. People spaz out thinking it's an extremely high compression motor with a huge cam, and here it is a little bigger than stock and still drives like stock without sputtering, puking, choking, etc. Really sounds good with a supercharger.......:D

Actually, that is a BT2R idle. You could have a GM Hotcam and I can make it idle like that. If it's too aggressive, I can always tone it down to sound like a normal cam idle. It's kind of a trademark of mine to set them up that way. I have a car club that I sponsor in Mississippi that has about 9 cars in it that I've tuned. When they come rolling into a parking lot, they get alot of attention all sounding like that. LOL!

I forgot you had those videos Ivory. Thanks for posting. However, both of those corvettes sound even better now. Niether one was finshed with their tunes when these videos were taken. The black one lost his clutch due to a burnt hydraulic line so was unable to complete the tune that day. The red one wasn't completed due to running out of tuning time. I came back over to the Shreveport area to finish both when the newness of their partial tunes ran out and they were ready for me to make them perfect.

guys I know this is along shot, but I am having some bad vibrations at around 65-80 mph I am thinking it is a DS issue. I have had the ds balanced, still a problem. I checked and set the pinion angle at -2.5 degree it was previously at -5. I pulled the u joints off the ds and they looked good.

Does anyone have a ds for a ford 9in going to a t56 or 4l60 I can borrow just to test and drive down the road. I have 1350 series joints on the 9in

I got a set at the house I bought a while back. Just stripped them down the other day. Haven't decided what i'm gonna do with them yet. It is nice to have a spare set of covers so you can sew them up ahead of time and minimize downtime. But my interior is already done....so I'm waiting for the poor lonely sole to show up so I can put them to good use. Wonder which one of yall that's gonna be.....

Minor setback, I started the car and it was running like crap so I wanted to see if the ac was gonna squeal like it had be so I turned it on and it was blowing to the feet SOB! so I see if the vacuum line is still on and sure enough its not FML the I was like WHERE THE FUCK IS MY MAP!!!......So I pull the intake and sure enough its broken off and the damn oil sending unit is to SOB FML! so Im tapped out on funds until tomorrow so Ill order some new ones and go from there. get that and the hood and exhaust rerouted and of the see the Wizard (Todd) lol

No I he didn't give me the measurements but its a ls6 clutch kit this guy is selling for 100 bucks. I was gonna buy it and and a new slave & throw it in until I can save up some more cash for a good one because mines is fried like a fresh batch from the Colonel lol. I need some visual opions.

Looks like that clutch is in ok condition. Should last til you can get a better one.

I guess when I lowered it on the k-member and removed the jack under the trans it tilted back on them. I figured it had a vacuum leak because of the idle just didnt sound right and when the ac wasnt blowing out the vents I knew what it was. Then when I put my hand back there I could feel the bolt that holds the map and was like SOB! Pulled the intake and seen it and the seen the oil sender and was like wtf is that looked and seen it was broke also. Im gonna check every parts store in north La someone should have something. I have an extra map but I dont want to pull the intake again if that one is bad.

Yeah me too!! Gonna detail the shit out of it this week. Picked up some 2000 grit sandpaper to wet sand the wheels and polish back out. Then gonna compound/buff the rest of the car.

Thanks guys and I have to agree that the ass end looks tons better and is prolly my favorite too lol. The front isn't finished though. Striping should be done this week along with a lil personal touch. I think she's fast enough to back it up and if not she will be soon enough :drive:

I came across a recent thread in the GenIII internal section where a guy's motor presents with the same EXACT symptoms as I have when talking about my oil pressure woes. He has already tried everything that I am in the middle of replacing with no positive results. :bang: My hopes of the oil pump fixing the issue just fell through the roof.

Yep. I'm 99.9% sure it's internal bearings or something.

Yeah it's stock height and I'm sure the wheels being turned isn't helping as it will change the pitch of the car. Strano's and bilsteins are on the list, but it'll be later on. Just wanted some better pics of it. The cell pics were funky lol.
