I have a few things I am undecided about... what you guys think?

1. My TF drag setup will be here this week. Just waiting on front wheels. My 295/45/17 mickey thompsons hook on an 8.5 wheel. I am considering running them on my 11" TF rears instead of the 325 M/H. They should hook better on the 11" wheel than the 8.5. I dont want to go to the 325 and lose a little time from the gearing loss and the extra rotating weight of the 325 over the 295. Hmmm...

2. Exhaust... I am running a factory catback with a magnaflow muffler in place of the stock muffler. There is a pretty good pinch point that goes from the muffler to the resonator (over the axle). I was planning(after I get back from dallas) on cutting everything off and running a turndown about a foot off the Y pipe. It will save me ~50lb and pick up a few ponies if I can get a retune before next wednesday before I head out to dallas. I dont want to make any changes that could possibly slow me down before the meet without being able to test it. Dump it or dont dump it??? A retune should net me around 10whp and will save me ~50lb... sounds like .1+/- if all goes well.... what to do...

Todd... can you come to me this weekend to tune the G8? Also... thoughts on the above. Lol. My brain is fried over this crap. Aluminum seat should be done this weekend though. Should save ~30lb with that and the air pump and bracket is another 20lb. If my wifes car isnt done by friday I am going to explode, and NOT because I am fat. Assholes haha

Don't do it! Keep with the posi. If you drive your car more than just at the track, you do not want a spool. Yes, I know people have used them for years without problem....blah blah blah. It's not good for axle bearings, seals, tires, lcas, etc and are quite annoying if used on the street and in parking lots when trying to turn. Stay posi!

The NHRA rule is the stud has to go in the lug nut a distance equal to the width of the stud. You can run stock studs and a long shaft close end lug nut if you want....it still meets the rules. Ran at tracks all over the country (from Atlanta, GA to California) without having one tech give me grief while running deep 10s. But, you guys are getting away with low 11s without a roll bar so what are you worried about. LOL. I kept getting kicked off tracks for that until I installed one.

You will hate a locker on the street. I can tell you they are dangerous in a m6 car. The spool was much more street friendly. I could kill a set of clutches in a posi in one season back a few years ago when use to race every Friday and Sat night. My spool was about 20 pounds lighter than the locker or posi also. I probably put 30-40k on each set up. Just something to think about

My best time was a 12.2, but we forgot to turn off my speed limiter, so I was shutting off a little past the 1000 ft mark. Every trap was 115.50 mph. Once that's turned off, I'll easily be in the elevens. Also, with the stock tq converter and 273 gears, I couldn't get under a 2.0 60ft. She's slow out of the whole.

STALL IT! How bad was the lag? You never said if wrapping the exhaust helped any...You need lower gears for the turbo something like 3.08-3.42s. Race gas and up the boost!

He need speed limiter removed, stall and tires. He might see a mid to low 11. He has 2.73s. Its a northern car. Steel driveshaft, 115mph speed limiter and non z raited tires.

Times werent there tonight, 11.4 was best pass and had a little wheel spin on a few of em, but did manage to figure out some grey areas leaving the line like rpm/boost/etc.... managed a best 60' of 1.64....... Track was not in the best shape as usual but i do have some suspension mods to take care of in the front end for weight transfer.... 11#'s of boost on this motor is only good for 11.2 im assuming unless i cut an ungodly light and 60' at trr which is not gonna happen..... Next round out will be for a better time and 60' and todd will be with me, 20+#'s of boost, meth, drag shocks and springs in the front should help me out alot :] and thanks everyone for all the help tonight!!

PB of 11.7xs twice back to back once we got a slight tailwind, I ran most of the gas out of the car, and it got slightly cooler. Which one of those 3 did it I'm not entirely sure.

I went 10.06 at 136 with a 1.40 60 still same set up as before but with 28in slicks, trex cam, 6 spd, and 150 shot. But my tailshaft housing from what i could tell is in a million pieces. I will be able to get a better look tomorrow. Both my fronts blew out while i was trying to get my car stopped too.

Finally got around to seeing what my tick was, and just as I thought it was a bent pushrod, #6 cylinder on the intake side and as a bonus #1 cylinder pushrod was bent aswell, Shane helped me out here and I finally got to take a peek underneath my valve covers. Clean for 149,100 miles. and now tick free.

its a 87 and yes I was fixing to take it to the scales and I found out that she ordered the aje k member from summit.

I did a little cleaning of the engine bay today and cleaned up a bunch of grease. I've got a quote to head out of town to handle my engine.
I also plan to take a trip to Blanchard on Monday to get my turbos inspected to make sure everything is OK.

Kidding man, I'll be getting my 347 rebuilt.
I can't justify building the LS2 right now because I want it to be built with the best parts with no compromises. I simply can't do that while I am saving for a honeymoon. I don't use a credit card for anything car related so that's not an option so I just decided to have this one inspected and rebuilt where needed.
When it's done, it should handle everything I want it to but we will just see how everything goes. When this is done, I don't want to do anything else to the vette until after school graduation (~1.5 years). Then after I have a real, career job, I doubt Ill want to be messing with the C5 anymore.

Tonight was a good night. Got redemption on the c6 zoh from about a 50 roll. Then he let me drive his car and I fell in love. Lol. One of his rocker arms came loose and I had to take him home to get his truck. On the way to drop him off we came up on a few bikes. They were making a bunch of noise so I knew one of them would bite. We run up beside them and I snatched it back to catch there attention. We were rolling about 50-60 and he started down shifting. I snatched it down to first and let it rip. I pulled him pretty good but we got into the curve after the automall and at 140+ I had to back off. We catch the light at Wallace lake rd and he asked, dude wtf? That thing is fast as hell for a little truck. We ended up running from a dig when the light went green. I stayed in it all the way to academy sports. Not sure how fast we were going but it was up there. I was turning 6,100 in 3rd gear when I let out and had him about 3 trucks. We got back to the vette and I got it fixed for him so we headed out. He was in front, I was in the middle and my wife was in the rear with his truck. A 03ish gt runs up beside the vette so I get behind the gt. He starts reving at the vette and all of a sudden he punched it. We let him get about 50+ yard up and me and the vette hit it at the same time. We came up on him super quick and I went to the center turn lane and we split his ass at well over 100. He pulled over and stopped. Lol It was a good night and there was a lot of fun packed into it.

I did a lil calc and when I was playing around with Wade and my buddy Justin in his T-type I pulled mine to 6250+ in 4th which is 180+ the calc is dead on because it said my car should be doing 81 in 4th @ 2800 rpms and thats exactly what my speed-o says.

Gear calculators aren't exact on autos bc of converter slip. Every auto car is different at WOT.

Honestly dude I'm wanting a PT series converter to pick up some on the back end. The SSs tend to 60 ft really well and drive really well but mph is not their strong suit. It's really just a standard trade off. I was telling Matt at the track that I was considering pulling it in the off season and selling it.

raced viper. When I had 3.42s and 27" tall tire and Rev at 6800. Maxed 4th and got well into 5th. 4th would peg the speedo. Viper said he was doing 175mph he was at my back bumper. I had more left. I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!! sounded like t-tops were going to get sucked off the car.

Idk how fast I've had my truck but its been up there for a 3000 pound truck. When I put these 3:08 gears in the truck I had a 28 inch tall tire and was living in converse. On 191 there is a strech of road about 4 miles that's straight and flat with nothing but woods on both sides. I run to truck up to about 5k in od with the converter locked. The slightest little bump would cause the back end to hop off the ground. When me and Andy went to meet Blaine we got a little air getting on crosslake bridge. It hit the limiter when the tires left the ground. I felt like a duke. Lol

Come pick it all up for $100. I know I told Goatss yesterday on the phone $200, but then realized that I don't need it and it just takes up space. I'm truly unaware of the exact issue with it but I know it was knocking and I just did a motor swap for the guy and pulled the rods and pistons and threw them away. I also have a set of LS1 rods and pistons if you wanted to have it bored to fit that I'd throw in for $150 total.

HE has has some trans issues. Like 4 trans blow on like 4 passes. sure its a tune issue. The last 5th Gen bt tuned from etmc had a lot of issues in the trans tune.

Not bashing the car at all. It's a clean ride, but it would also help if the ad said a 382 lol. With that being said $15k isn't unrealistic of a price, but you know as well as I do that a bank is only gonna give someone 90% of the value of what the car is worth in most cases. Most people aren't gonna have the money to make up the difference. This makes it hard to sell just about anything these days which sucks for buyers and sellers all around.

I looked at a set of mounts on my brothers 5.3 since he is rebuilding it and I think I can get away with using my stock k member with a modified base plate for the ls mounts to hook onto, but not sure about the oil pan and har far it would hang down below the k member isf I could fit it. Maybe able to run a set of f-body headers or modified 351 swap headers with ls1 flanges on them.

Im going to go pull a motor (cant decide 5.3 or 6.0 I guess which ever is at the wrecking yard when I go) and back it with a turbo 350.

alright cause this is a stock motor for now and nelson performance wants 300 for a already tuned computer that is supposed to do 30-35 hp gain with 1-3 mpg gain also with 93 oct. I however would rather someone local do it.

I got to find a engine harness or a wiring guru to help me out here with this one, but Im going to try to find time to do the k member install cause I dont wanna fab up mounts.

Don't use nelson. I cracked a ringland the first day on their tune. They will also lock your computer so no one can touch it. You need to tune in person and Todd is the way to go.

I think the camaro f-body manifolds will work in the swap, but Im not 100% sure here so I guess here goes the long build if there is a part yall think I need let me know Im kinda blind here and dont really know alot about these motors and can be reached 100% of the time at 318-422-4775

I think the stock pan ends up siting a little low for most people's comfort. If you know someone that can tig aluminum really well you could take an inch or two out like a lot of people do. My buddy has a spool gun for aluminum on his welder(waiting for him to buy gas), and in a month or so we're gonna play with one of my spare pans and see how it turns out. I'll post up if we ever get the time.

Did you mention already ordering the AJE? If you did and end up staying with the stock K-member, I'd be interested in the AJE for my thunderchicken. When I joined I picked 4.6turbocoupe, but 6.0turbocoupe may have a better ring to it...........Plus I've got two 6.0's sitting in the garage, and an F-body turbo kit I may be able to modify to fit.

Agreed, it was so much fun hitting the autobahn and hitting a brick wall at 104 in my old V8 Thunderbird. Limiter was there for a reason on those though, they all had driveline vibration after that from what I heard.

Hopefully they are solved by the changes i've made. I think the problem is i am at the limits of the 8 rib setup, it doesnt like the 15-16lbs of boost i am getting out of it. May get another bracket thats supposed to eliminate the slip, but not just yet

I got everything t-bolted, problem was i had a few pieces that didnt have a bead, i got that solved now. No o ring injector leaks, fixed that then we started maxing out the 2 bar map, and my 60lb injectors were over %100 duty cycle. I was loosing a ton through my o rings. Oh, and todd, if u remember we had 0 raw fuel smell when we tuned? That was those o rings blowing fuel out i bet under boost. No fuel smell anymore. I really wonder how bad that messed my tune up with boost and fuel getting by them, makes me wonder if damage to the motor was done. Either way we got her tuned up, not really sure how fast its gonna be, i bet todd has a better idea than me, maybe he can say what he thinks about the car now

Yep, it's pretty darn quick. Deep 10s are easy with this car. As long as it hooks up, high 9s will be possible.

Ok, I may have done something a little dumb. I just picked up the Audi TT pictured below for $950 ($500 cash and 450 when he gets the duplicate salvage title in). No worries, its for the wife and she'll keep it longer than I keep anything.

Anyway, I need cash to actually put this thing together and gather parts needed. Does anyone local want my 99 Trans Am as either a roller or a nearly complete car? I haven't been updating at all lately, but I got an 80K mile LS1/T56 dropout and threw it in a few weeks ago. It basically needs the holes cut for the clutch master cyl/shifter, A/C hooked up, cooling hooked up, electrical hooked up, and seats put back in. I can sell as an unfinished project, or a roller. I'd prefer roller because I got a steal on the LS1/T56 so I'd like to keep it handy for a future project. Roller price would include the Weld wheels with front runners and all the BMR suspension stuff that's on it. I may continue working on it this weekend and finish it up if I can get time, but feel free to contact me and check it out at any time.

I drove a 03 Lincoln ls v8 to hs loved it! Anyhow I desided to go and watch the races @ twin citys....got talked into running, so shorts and no helmet they didnt give a fuck! Babyed it out the hole first pass ran 12.0@117 2.0 60', then flashed the bitch off idle and ran 11.68@117 then hot laped and ran 11.55@117 1.69 60' then let it cool for 30mins and ran 11.39@120 with a 1.71 60' on fucking 18's!!! Fuck trrp!! Twin citys is where its @!! Plus its 56 miles for me lol!

Oh I agree, twin cities hooked well for me the day I raced there. But, I dead hooked every pass the last three times I been to TRRP. I only spun one time in 3 visits and it was still like a 1.78 60 ft. I'm not having as much of a traction problems as some of the other cars running. Probably 15-20 passes in 3 visits, 60fts all between 1.5x and 1.6x except the one mentioned above.

I really didnt think the car would run that good on the 18s! and if you seen my 18" dr's you would call bull shit! There that worn out!

Well I heard that G8 or whatever was running on 19s the other weekend and did pretty damn good. I didn't see it though....

I saw the g8 tonight but I don't think its on 19s. Keep in mind I went from a 3:73 gear with 29.5/12.5s to a 3:08 with 28/11.5s. 3:73s got me a 1.80 60, 3:08s best 60 was 2.1 I think 3:42s will be the best bet.

TRRP wasnt consistent early on, but that G8 set a world record there. It's been hooking as of late. I have personally seen them spray behind any car that looses traction til no one is spinning. This is the first year for new management (again) and I think next year they'll get it together if the same guy and crew stays around.

Twin Cities has had the same crew for years so they have their shit together and it shows. That track hooks so good that my car still bogged on a 6500 clutch dump. I'm ready to go back when my drivetrain is finally back in order again.

yeah g8 went 1.5s in 4000+lbs car on 19's and that 5th gen has seen 1.6's on 19's or 20's whatever they were. ren dumped his m6 at 7,000 rpms spraying a 150 off line and got a 1.4 so cant be to bad.

I really like the people who own it. David Strong had his son in my daughter's class last year. He's got a really nice house not far from me. Very cool garage and toys.
I need to stop by and see him. Don't want to lose touch.

Next will be with my tuning. Didn't want to give him a full tune yesterday without knowing where he already is ....I like when the cars tell a story ;)

Np, his idle tune was shit! Shane said he broke into the 10's last night but didnt say 10.xx but he said it was @130+. Also Wader set the cam only record @ 11.95 and hes about 300+ lbs heavier than the previous record holder so hes about to carry that record so far that no one can touch it!

Yeah it runs good, best pass was a 10.87 @ 124 with a 1.50 60ft. Never did get to spray it, the bottle he had to borrow had the wrong fittings on it.

I quit the pipeline and went to work at o'riellys. I also got a 72 maverick now that I dont have a clue what to do with and it weighs maybe 2700 lbs...

I know a few people who like the Gs400s and had a few here and there over the past few years (used they can be had pretty cheap now-a-days) and they are great cars for what they are :nod:

Its hard to say without knowing the seller. I'm not sure how well my 4k would work for your application, but if it would work well, and me having a quick local sale available it would sure make me want to swap it out. Plus you would get to ride before you bought it. I need to call Dave at Yank and pick his brain again. He steered me away from the swap last time though.....but plans change so you never know.
