Didn't get a clean run since my knock sensors started acting up. Threw a SES light about 80ft from the traps so I got out of it immediately and ran a 13.1. I think it might of popped a high 12 had that not happened. Either I'm right or my mind is playing tricks on me, but I sware putting that LS6 intake on raised my power band some. I was crossing the traps around 6200 now I'm crossing at 6500 and where the shift light comes on is too close to shift into 4th cause it will kill my ET. Does this make sense?

Really? The last time I went I was leaving sideways all night. Shift to 2nd and go sideways again. I always get stuck in the left lane which usually when that happens, but friday the left was hooking good.
I did have a good laugh on my pass though. That little honda was banging rev limiter at the tree and I started laughing then killed that awful noise with an 8 cylinder symphony.

Scott, I've been telling you your susp. was the problem after watching you launch several times. I'm glad you got it figured out. Man you should have been at RRR Friday, it was STICKY!
Josh, I knew that was it.
Yeah,it started changing late last year. Watching the videos of the LSX shootout i found that i was not getting any weight transfer off the nose,so i had to go with the QA1 shocks and springs to get the car to transfer the weight like it used to do but when that happened the stock swaybar could not handle it and started twisting badly at full extention.
I have changed the TB,MAF,Lid,28" MT DRs,QA1 shocks and springs,LCA,4.11 gears, spohn drag sway bar and played around with some little things on the suspension as well. If i can get the other 3-4 things going by october i exspect to start seeing the full potential of the 6.0L motor then. <caugh>vicjrntaksdtunnoscontrolr<caugh> :D

was there a decent show of TnT cars there or slim pickins? There was 4 of us from EFI Club that showed up to test&tune, but the super pro and no e cars invited us to run with them in the jackpot race. Now this is where I get to brag on our little race club, we ran the no e side. Josh had car trouble, Chris & I made one round, here's the part I like Johnny Ainsworth was the winner in no e. Johnny drives his car to the track and was knocking the tree down all night, until he went up for the jackpot round. Where he red lighted with a strong super pro winner in the other lane. That was some great R/T's that Johnny was getting and he was putting them back on & in their trailers. It just does my heart good to see a car driven to the track and running that good. Congratulations Johnny Ainsworth

i have to admit, im getting pretty excited about my cam swap. i finally am rounding up the final pieces, only thing left im waiting on is the msd wires and new plugs to come in then im set. im gonna hook up with greg for a quick reflash to get me back on track and then it should be running good. i mean its running great now so this cam should only make it better. i know its not the biggest but i think its gonna be a good improvement. im thinking LCA relo brackets next with some et streets. i dont drive the car much anyway and hilton seems to like his. i think that should be good for a good reduction in ETs. my only concern is how much louder my exhaust is gonna get with this swap. its already ignorant loud when i mash on it and with this stall i have to see at least 3Ks to get the car moving. any thoughts?

I remember your car doing some crazy stuff when you were launching it. It would pull the nose some and then the back would go up and it looked like it was yanking the rear drivers wheel off the ground and unloading the suspension. I think that will help you out a ton. I'm planning on a spohn bar for mine as the next mod.
The auto is fun on the track but the t brake will really take some getting use to. I only used it about 2-3 times and they were wimpy 2000rpm launches that still produced 1.60-1.63 short times! So it's gonna be a killer when I do balls up and hit it with all 4000 stall! I matched my best ever 6 speed 60ft of 1.590 and never really left very hard and that was foot braking it. But it would only run almost to the 1000ft mark before I ran out of gear and had to coast to a best of 11.83@113. Every trans company I talked to told me my setup with 4.30's and 28" tires was good for 124mph @ 6400rpm but it wasn't even close!

Your gearing may be lower than you think causing you to run out of motor on the big end. 4.11s won't make much difference for you at all. I would throw some 3.70s to it and see what happens. I ran them up to april and put 4.11s in mine with the 28" tires but have yet to try them.

Chris the stall converter is what is keeping rpms up they never actually get a 1 to 1 input to output speed I would think to get 124 mph with tires and gears rpm will be close to 6800 to 7000 rpm. Get you a two step on the t-brake and watch the front end get some good airtime.

well i had huge oil pressure issue after some miles, turned out to be a clogged oil filter. i got the 295 pump so didn't expect much better pressure then stock. it wasn't. just a tad higher. you have 30 psi cold idle or hot idle? ses light?

I think it's fine. I drove it today and the gauge acts like it should. I thought my stocker was on the way out since it was also idling at that pressure, but I guess not. This new one is a stocker just ported and polished for better flow not pressure so I guess it's all good. Now I think I have a lifter tapping so now I have to address that problem.
cainsw
08-15-2008, 09:31 PM
I had a 98 m6 that had a lifter tap and when it warmed up to running temp it would go away. It did this for 20000 miles. I put in a set of lifters and it still made the same noise just not as loud. I sold the car for 5k and about 3 weeks later it spun a rod bearing.
blue98Z
08-15-2008, 09:46 PM
Don't tell me that. Of course mine is a 98 car with a 99 motor. I know that doesn't make much of a difference, but I have heard alot of bad things about the 98 blocks. Of course this particular motor sat up about a year before it was put into my car so that may have alot to do with it. One point behind the cam swap was to replace all the gaskets that had started leaking from sitting up so long. Chris I got a post in the internal section about it. Let me know what you think. I think it's gonna be that #8 exhaust lifter since I had somewhat of a problem out of it.

It sounds badass though.

You will not hurt a thing driving it or racing it without it being tuned. All four of our cars were run hard at the track for 3-4yrs with no tuning and it never hurt a thing. And these four cars probably go to the track more times in a month than most of you go in a year. Damn I wish you guys would quite worring about that and just drive your stuff until you can tune it. :)

I had one pretty good sized limb fall, but it's not in the street, driveway, or ditch, so I'm going to leave it until it drys up a little. I don't want to rut up the yard pulling it with the mower to the burn pile.

My folks lost their entire enclosed back patio/sunroom, storage shed, and about 10 feet of roof shingles. No power down there, they're still running a generator.

Seafoam works!! I used it in my truck and my gas mileage went back up to 19mpg on the hwy from 16mpg. It smoked like a coal train for a little while, but overall I was impressed. I did it to the camaro, but it put one small puff when I hammered it in second and that was it. Nothing changed in it.

Yep mine smoked at idle for quite a while, but when I took it out for a spirited drive, nothing really happened. Maybe I let it sit and idle for too long and it just burned it all out at idle. It's all good, perhaps my engine was just clean like that. She hit 100k about 3 weeks ago!

funny you mention that. after having this cam for a little while and logging some miles on it, lemme give you some impressions. it runs great, but just doesn't give me the hey, im a low eleven second cam feeling. could be my imagination but it only seems slightly faster then before. from a 50 punch it still seems really slow compared to say hilton's car. cody says chris' car runs/feels very fast as well. both of them have far better gear ratios then me plus 6 speeds. maybe the auto/3.23 makes for boring acceleration. greg seems to think the car runs strong. i dont know maybe i need some heads now or possibly a 12 bolt with a 3.73 to spice things up.

It's nothing major. My oil pressure is still staying around 40psi and won't go any higher so I'm gonna pull the pan back off and double check the O ring. If that's not it then Vengeance is gonna have to give me another pump. Besides, I have until the end of November to give you all you want or vice versa lol. I plan to have this problem fixed and the car tuned before the end of November so I can get a few runs in with the cam before it gets too cold. Depending on how it runs, I may just go ahead and drop the engine and freshen it up with a whole new rotating assembly. That should be sweet.

Man that sucks! It's not a shock though me and greg were told this early this summer that it was going to happen. Maybe someone will step up and take it over this winter  You guys are more than welcome to come race with us at prescott.
On a side note i find it hard to swallow that nobody will step in and try to take the track over,to nice of a facility to let set and ruin.

I wonder if it's for sale, and if so, how much. There's bound to be money there.
1. Advertise, and post results where people can show off their times, or at least the results of the little weekly bracket races.
2. Hire someone with personality to run commentary on the races. Keep it interesting for the people in the stands.

Molly said Wilhite Electric said its for sale for 1.5 million. but I've been told it can be bought for $800-850K. I've been told this by 2 different people today. That place has to be a steal @ 1million.

Cody, I've got my stock rear with 4.10's, but it's gonna need new bearings. They were starting to go which was another reason I pulled it and upgraded to the 9". I took it apart and everything is good to go except the bearings.

That may be the only way for it to work considering my car doesn't have ASR. Am I correct?
blue98Z
10-29-2008, 04:55 PM
I think you could use my housing, but would have to use your axles. I think. I might be backwards or totally wrong lol. I know the posi and gears should interchange. The gears might have a slight whine, but the bearings is what made alot of noise. There was alot more roaring than whine. Which suggested the bearings. We looked at the gears when we pulled the rear and they actually looked pretty good which is why I say the whine should be minimal.

Greg, in Hp tuners scanner, how do I change what I'm scanning on the chart settings? I can make the changes work on the Table but not on the chart.
MCBRIZ28
10-30-2008, 04:11 PM
Chris open chart right click on chart to open up chart settings. Then open the chart you what to add to I think the first two charts still have a undefined slot just click on that to add the sensor just like on the table and then save it. you have to set color and upper and lower limits to your taste. The sensor has to be saved on the tablet screen also to work.

Havent been around much fellas. How is everyone? Hilton, have you had any luck finding a replacement block? I've been looking for you one also, but no such luck. Wish I had the money to buy your wheels cause I really like them, but no car funds at the moment. When you get ready to pull it let me know. My dad has a two post lift that he'll probably let us use to lift the car with when you get ready to put a new motor in. That will save us some headaches.

I'm having a shit-storm of car problems. Not only does the Camaro block have a hole in it, the Volvo block is cracked too. I'm carpooling with my wife these days. It's very glamorous.
The Volvo has to be first priority. I may have found a short block already. Josh is helping take delivery of it. (heh, Black Camaro Josh, not Blue Camaro Josh. One of these days people are going to start telling me their last names)
Thanks for the offer of using the lift Blue Josh. I think that'll help a lot. We used the one on base at the auto hobby shop to do Galen's TA swap. We did it in a day. Drove there in the TA and a truck, drove home. I have to admit though, he's a bit better of a mechanic than I am. He's also in Ocean Springs. :(

It sounds sick, but it wont back up the sound until he puts the juice on it. If its the one Im thinking of its an 04. If your putting out what you say you are, it would've been ugly for him even with the juice. There is another that's an 06 and it aint no joke, but that one didn't have black wheels the last time I saw it.

The black GTO with black wheels is most likely Swervin.
The 06 I believe belongs to a guy named Roland.
Both seem like cool guys....Swervin is on the bottle and I was told Roland was not.
