LS7 and 400hp here.

Why do you ask, since the LS7 clutch was designed by GM to handle at least that amount of HP? ...that question is easy ....the unit can handle this - no sweat.

There is a diff between fly and wheel hp, 500 hp at the wheel is more then at the fly.

ALthough it seems for most people it holds 500 rwhp, but dont high RPM slip it and its fine.

seems like i've seen complaints on the Z06s NOT being able to hold the power in the clutch.

i would spend the money on a good aftermarket. why "just barely" make it in holding power, when you can exceed it for the same price.

It was designed to handle at least that amount of HP in THAT CAR...which is lighter than damn near any F-body that clutch would ever go in. Vehicle weight makes a huge difference when trying to get a car off the line...if ZO6 owners complain of hot lapping issues, it would only be worse with an F-body.

Where is one for $400 that is aftermarked that is better than a ls7. I want a clutch that feels good on the leg and will hold around 500rwhp I roll race 90% of the time

Tell me what clutch can exceed the "500 HP" rating for $400 bucks for the whole kit. As well as there are a lot more variables into a clutch besides "It will hold 500 HP".

I've got an LS7 clutch on my current motor, I reused it from my 346. I feels ok for now but I don't expect it to hold up for the too long . I drive it pretty hard since that's the only reason I take the car out lately. I'm pretty sure a nice twin disk would feel better when i'm slamming the gears but for the time being the LS7 is getting the job done

I suppose lots of non-GM aftermarket clutch sales are declining rapidly since the LS7 clutch can handle lots of power, is dirt cheap, and typically has very few horror stories like some others....

....as far as flywheel power and RWHP, GM has always been conservative in this rating and typically the GM HP rating can be attained by measuring a factory stock car at the rear wheels; right?

Anyway, the LS7 clutch seems like a no-brainer to me but I'm only one who thinks GM has got a winner here.

After I burn up my stock LS6 clutch an LS7 will be what i go with. I will have around 450rwhp and have a 250 shot on top of that. So guess we will see how long they last although I will be roll racing mostly.
