Question Wider tire than 285 that is not a drag tire

I am odering new rims and tires for my 01 ss and i think i am getting torq thrust II's 17/9 for front and 17/11 in rear. But the widest tires that the guy at my local TO Haas Tire store can only find 285's for the rear that were not a drag radial. I want something wider but not a drag tire. Does anybody know of a wider tire than 285 that is not a drag type tire because i dont want to scatter my stock rear when i step on it. If not i guess i will go with the firehawk wide oval's 275's front 285's in the rear.

Sumitomo 315/35/17 or BFG and goodyear both have 315/35/17 tires also but the sumitomos are only 98 each from tire rack. I run them on my 17x11 Torque Thrust IIs and they are decent for a cheap tire.

Tire Rack shows several 315/35/17's non-DR. Check it out--> http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...t=All&x=76&y=2

if your looking at the TTII"s then you can either get sumitumo's in a 315(Cheap and shitty traction) . or goodyear eagle GSD-3's also 315s. expensive and ok traction.

Thanks guys. I thought i have seen wider tires than that but the guy kinda seemed like a dumbass that didnt know what he was doing. So i guess i will get the 315's other wise i wouldn't gain any traction at all.
