max power cam for a 408
jus wanna see what you guys have in mind or experience with. good power and torque up to 7k rpm is what im after.
ive run big cams since my my first cam swap(g5x3,t-rex,and now 257/266)
is the cam i have ok or is there a better custom specd cam i dont know about.
i run stage 3 317 ported by patriot(66cc)

your current cam is pretty damn big. if you are looking for more power it might better to look at a better set of heads. you probably would see better gains peak and all throughout the curve with better heads. checkout something like afr, trickflow or etps. you might have trouble clearing that big of a cam with afr's though. the trickflow and etps have different valve angles and clear bigger cams because of that. etps being 11 degree and will have the most clearance.

I disagree. Many aftermarket castings will have issues with the piston shape designed for stock chambers. Why not go to a solid roller? Lots of power to be gained "under the curve" and with the off the shelf intakes out there right now the power can be kept under 7k to keep wear down on the valvesprings.

i would say save up for a better set of heads also. with that big of a stick with the right scr/dcr rwhp should be in the 570+ range with good heads i would think. what is your current numbers ?
