Just like it says, is flycutting needed for this cam with stock heads? specs are 231/234 .643/.598 01ws6

Is it a vendors grind or just one you threw together? Maybe the TRAK?

I think its a cam from TSP... Here it is. Best advice is to conatct them via thru here or a phone call and ask them. I know they have ran that cam with all different combos.

Hmmm I don't know with a lift like that... I'm starting to think the LS1 heads are only good to .600 lift MAX. However, I know you'd be fine with LS6 heads

Duration is what kills you, not lift...

plenty people rock that cam in stock headed ls1s should be no problems

their bigger ms4 cam fits fine as well

"Magic Stick V.4 239/242, .649"/.609" Camshaft With Your Choice of Lobe Seperation (111 LSA Standard)

The Magic Stick V4 camshaft is Texas Speed's premier LS1 camshaft!

The MS4 camshaft is the result of extensive engine dyno testing & research! Engine dyno results have shown over 80 horsepower gains with no other changes on a stock 2001 LS1 engine!! "

the torquer 3 is widely used

"All New Torquer v.3 Camshaft!

231/234 .643"/.598" 111 LSA
*Requires Aggressive Double Springs!

2300-6700 RPM Power Band with a peak around 6400rpm; This is an excellent performance camshaft with a rough idle! Custom tuning required"

lol I knew when I saw the topic someone would make a post like this. I hope you aren't implying max lift has anything to do with PTV clearance. And I hope you aren't implying he's going to see .643 or w/e valve lift when you take hydraulic lifters and pushrod deflection into consideration.

And what makes you think LS1 heads are only good to .600 when LS6 heads are good for more? Can you post the flow sheet numbers you're referencing?

Sorry man, i am new to this. But max lift has nothing to do with PTV clearance? Right? At all? PTV clearance has to do with the lsa?

Nope, at max lift the piston is down in the bore, it wouldn't make sense to have the valve at full lift with the piston coming back up would it? But it WOULD make sense that with the piston coming up to the top of the bore, the valve has not closed completely yet.. which is time off the seat.. which is duration.. and LSA and advance determining valve events.

It shouldn't be an issue with stock valves and stock compression. Change those and you have to check.

Like I said above... Call or PM TSP and see what they recommend. Or try a search and see what others have done.

hey ABQ99TA, i asked you a question in another post, i think it was the how big to go post or something, u didnt catch it. Anyway, i saw a member that was running the tspv2, and he was dynoing more than your setup, both bolt on cars, is this due to the tune? Or maybe the different years of cars(different heads)? Not trying to be rude or anything, just trying to understand why? Does the v2 typically put down more? I thought the v3 was a bigger cam

They were different dyno's. End of story. One thing you cannot do with dyno's is compare different ones to the same standards. You use dyno's for tuning purposes and that's it. And you use the same one every time or you'll be all screwed up. (though in a sense you can re-baseline if you do move to another one. Just don't baseline somewhere, mod, then test it somewhere else, you'll find out exactly nothing.)
