Default Yea I think its broken

A friend of mine has an 01 SS. He has had some tranny issues for the past few months but we havent had time to address the issues. Started out with some grinding in 3rd gear. Ended up not having 2nd, 3rd, or 4th.
Last night we are at his work messing with the radio in the car. He goes to back the car out of the shop, lets the clutch out a bit and the S.O.B. starts going forward! Thinking oh ok well maybe it was just in fifth. Try again, reverse lights come on, let the clutch out a bit and the thing still goes forward! By this time we are tripping out. Just for fun he put it in neutral. Lets the clutch out and it still starts moving forward!!

By this time we are laughing. Its crazy.
Needless to say, tonight we are pulling the tranny to do a rebuild.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Haha, until they park it in front of a wall and then go to pick it up for you.

Had that happen once at the track. Car was stuck in sixth no matter where the shifter was. Managed to get it into third, (was kind of bitch to get on the trailer in 3rd). After I tore it down, I found that the snap ring that holds the 5/6 fork on the rail had come out. Also had no shift pads left...

Sounds like its got a broken shift fork and is stuck in that gear . I would not try to put it into reverse again because if for some reason you get it into reverse while its stuck in a foward gear , it will do some serious damage in a hurry .

Wow, didn't see this. The car is mine. We managed to get the trans out, and it is going to be torn down tomorrow. I might try to get some carnage pics!

Wow you hit the nail on the head. Turns out the 3-4 shift fork was broken and it ended up sticking the tranny into gear.
