TSPs 5.3 stg 2.5 w/228Rcam anyone running this?
I have been deciding on an H/C swap for a while now and have decided on the Stage 2.5 5.3L CNC ported heads with the 228R cam. The cam specs are 228/228-.588/.588-and I will get a 112 LSA to give it a nice somewhat choppy idle.
Just wondering if anyone is running this or a similar setup and how the install and tune went.Thanks in advance for the help!

Intake Flow Information:These are the 5.3 stage 2.5s
.300 208
.400 257
.500 290
.600 312
The stage 1.0 LS6 heads are : .200@149, .300@205, .400@255, .500@287, .600@307
I was interested in the stage 2.5 LS6 heads but they are quite a bit more expensive and dont have a flow chart.

i called TSP and asked john about those two sets of heads and he said the shorter intake runner on the 5.3's helps with some extra grunt down low. i also decided on those because of hte compression bump and i want nitrous later on. nitrous loves compression.
i looked at that cam for this setup and eventually deicded to go a little bigger with the torquer 3. i havent seen any numbers with the 228r yet, but seems like a nice little combo

I am running that setup with the heads milled to 59cc and a .040 Cometic.
I have some numbers for ya on the 18th after Ed (The HP Factory) works his magic.
Keep in mind I am still running the LS1 intake and no UD pulley.
Other than the flycutting the install was pretty straight forward.
The 228R has a noticable idle, but not as choppy as the Torquer V3 I used to run.

I flycut the pistons because I had the Torquer 3. When I was done I started checking the cam out through the lifter bores and thats when i noticed three of the lobes were pitted along the sides. I decided to run something a little less aggressive and went with the 228R.

This is the exact set-up I had decided to go with. I was wanting low end grunt and a smooth but strong powerband. Looks like I made the right choice. Does anyone have a dyno of this set-up?
I'll be running a LS6 intake with ported TB, 1.75" primary/2.5" collectors LTs, ORY to a Magnaflow cat-back. I'm going to build a CAI to draw air from outside the engine bay. What kind of numbers and powerband could I expect?

I have those heads in an A4 with a custom 232/238 6xx 6xx 111+2 lsa and put down 435rwp 407 rwt. I also have a ported 90/90
when I had a tr224cam with the heads and ported 90/90 I put down 417 rwhp 407rwt

228/228 is a stellar cam. I'm running afr heads, but you should see great results. Great power under the curve and nice peak power around 6600rpms. My dyno numbers are in my sig, hope it helps a little.
