Has anyone put a shift kit in there 2002SS and
if so are you happy with the results and what
kind of kit did you use.

I recently put a TransGo shift kit on my WS6. Got it installed at stage 3, shifts are a lot firmer, and it seems like it shifts a tad quicker (although it could be my imagination). I was kinda disappointed that it won't chirp going into 2nd though. My main reason to get it was to increase the transmission life by firming up the sloppy shifts.

I bought a Trans-Go kit but after adjusting
a couple of transmission settings with my
Predator, I'm no longer motivated to install
it. I think the slipping is "all in its head" -
the computer is set up to shift as if they
were selling this car to fat old ladies with
sciatica. Amazing what a little more line
pressure and a lot less "decision time" do
to the shift action. Both are "e-knobs".

Trans-Go kit does look like complicated. I've
rebuilt a TH350 but there's a lot of little
things here to get wrong and the instructions
are pretty thin. Maybe one of these days. Like
my first rebuild.

Supposedly the TCI kit is much simpler. Also
seen a B&M "plug-in" deal which I bet is just
dicking with the line pressure PWM. Lastly,
the guys in the Corvette pen at the local
Chebby dealer (lucky monkeys who get to
wrench on the owner's racing 'Vettes for a
living) were talking about B&M "Trick Shift"
fluid. But they seemed to have more than a few
misguided notions about other stuff, and the
more things break, the better their overtime...
anybody have any experience with this?

Trick Shift (much like Ford F-type but with better friction modifiers) will make the shifts a little less sloppy due to reducing slippage but it will not make the shift faster. In no way is this like installing a shift kit.

Raising the line pressure by electronic means will make part throttle shifts alot harder but not WOT shifts (they are programmed to use %100 line pressure anyway.) Again, NOTHING like using a shift kit.

I have the TCI installed in my '02 and love it. Shifts are harder but not too hard (NO tire chirps at part throttle around town crusing.) The shifts are MUCH faster than before. All shifts are better at all throttle positions. It feels like a tranny should. Very nice. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> Also, tranny engagement (when you shift out of park or N into any gear) is almost instantaneous now.

Hey Colonel what kit was it you purchased? Do you
have a part # or can you tell me what the kit was
i.e. street/strip or full race? Thanks

I don't know the part # but it's the TCI street/strip kit for the 4L60-E. It retains all automatic shifting functionality and drives really nice (drives ALOT better than stock, IMO.) I don't know but they probably offer a manual valvebody too.

Rasing line pressure helps to increase hydraulic pressure. It also robs horse power. Takes more power to run the pump and is harder on the pump. Installing a Transgo S.K. increases hydralic flow, lessens spring tension (or increases as the case may be),opens up the hydraulic system for a more balanced,crisper,shorter shift.It addresses the total transmission.Mechanical,electrical,and hydraulic systems. Think about it, Try filling a bucket (clutch pac ),with a straw. Then use a hose,with the same pressure in both hose and straw, which will fill the bucket faster?

K2, you should have someone update your website. 376001 shows to be for "LT1 equipped vehicles." It makes NO mention of the LS1.

Then, 376002 somewhat confusingly states, "For non LT-1 or LS1 equipped applications (contains performance servo assembly)" This kinda sounds like it is for a non-LT1 vehicle or one that HAS an LS1. Maybe it should say, "For vehicles that are not equipped with either an LT1 or an LS1."

Thanks for the feedback on the website. We'll update it today. It has been updated for about a month now...on the 4L60E page, but not on the service kits page. After we make the change you may have to delete your temp internet files and try to load it again.

Kevin W. or Kevin S. ,I just ordered the 376001 kit for my `02 Z28. Can I order the performance servo seperate? Will it work in conjunction with the 001 kit? Thanks.

The 'performance servo' is the corvette servo that GM makes. All the LS1 and LT1 F-bodies have this servo from the factory.
