Gears & Axles - Ordered my Moser, one more ? before it gets here

Ok, I ordered the Moser today from Texas Speed & Performance. It comes fully assembled, minus the brake backing plates. I know the ones on my current rear are bent. I plan on going to the dealer tomorrow to order them. I know they might carry them on sites like auto-parts-for-less.com and gmpartsdirect.com, but their names and diagrams are kinda confusing at times so I don't wanna end up ordering the wrong part. (stock brake backing plates fit on the Moser, right?)

Does anyone know the EXACT part # on one of those sites for the backing plates that I need? Is there anything else I need besides them? If I don't order them from one of those sites, when I go to the dealer I simply as for brake backing plates, right? And LASTLY ( <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> ) what kind of shop do I need to take it to to get them pressed on? Hopefully that won't cost too much. Gimme an example of a widely known company that does stuff like that. (or if you live in Houston and could point out a specific place that'd be even better)

EDIT: I emailed the guy from TX Speed & Perf, and he said:
You will need to get a new u-joint for the driveshaft, you will need to get a set of dual 3" muffler clamps to attach your rear sway bar, and you will need to tie-wrap your brake lines to the rear axle. For ABS, your exciter rings would need to be pulled off of your 10-bolt and pressed onto the 12-bolt. You can have them pressed on at Moser for an additional $75 if you'd like. Just let me know, and I can add that to your rearend. Your brake backing plates and rear brake setup will transfer over to the 12-bolt.

New u-joint? Where the hell do I get that? Is it the same as the stock one or what? I'm gettin them to press the exciter rings on. Does that mean my backing plates won't hafta be pressed on?

Hi, just ordered mine yesterday from speed inc. and had mine pressed also. That means they used new ones and your backing plates will go right on and they saved you some hassle. As far as the ujoint I think the part # is NAPA 447XU-joint. Hope this helped. Ryan

Thats the corect part # for the joint. As for the backing plates, just call Trevor and have them order it from Moser FULLY assembled. I just installed mine two days ago, Im about to make a full post and some install tips. Should be up after this tv show <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

you may want to just call Trevor @ TX Speed and Performance and ask him...he may know

Yes the part number is 447 from NAPA and the reason is that the yoke on the Moser is a 1350 and the DS is a 1310 yoke that is if you have the Aluminum DS and if you have the factory steel I believe it is NAPA 348. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

You will still have to have the bearings pressed on the axles and most places especially the larger NAPA stores and places like that should be able to do it for you about $25-50. It's not really hard to do. I used my old exciter rings because it saved me $75 and I was told that they have differences in the number of teeth on the rings and I didn't know how many mine had.
Wish you good luck with it. I gotta have mine worked on today I think I have a busted pinion bearing. We shall see.
