base engine statistics on 03 5.3 vortec? I just bought an 03 vortec 5.3 motor for my 98 Silverado. I am looking for any information on this motor as I can. Especially stock numbers so I know what I am working with. Looking to build it up before installation but need to know where to start. Any help would be great :-)

^^^Yup. That's what it should be, I just bought a 03 avalanche 5.3l for my V8 240sx swap and they're the same engines. I've heard that there might be a 10hp and 10TQ loss difference depending on build date and what not, but I doubt it.

5.3 is a very comon truck engine. Check out http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums for more info but its not quite as techy as this site.
