Parachute!

Won't that pull the center tube back if you throw the laundry? I can imagine that there is a fair amount of force when the chute is deployed and the being connected in the center will have lots of leverage to the outside mounts.

It looks pretty good.... I would recomend putting a bit more structure in the center. I would also weld the plates to the sheet metal instead of bolting it down. Then agian what could be funnier the a parachute that deploys and then comes un attached from the car with the rear bumper cover? That would be priceless, let me know when you want to test it out and I will video tape on the top end.

Well that is a 1 5/8" .134" wall Roll cage tube. And the bolt that holds the parachute to the to the mount is a 7/16" Grade 5. I'm gonna go out an a limb here and say that if that bar bends the bolt is gonna go first.
There are eight bolts that hold that to the rear of the car, there are only eight ropes that hold the chute...
Eight bolts > Eight nylon ropes

I like the homemade Job!
If its not too late, see if you can bend the tube slightly. The flange where the Chute Attaches coud be pointed up just abit. It'd be nice to have it launch up slightly and get into the airstream...
