I bought a used mig welder a while back and they guy gave me an argon tank with it. I have no use for the argon.

A while back I went down to that place on 50 near Bithlo (tractor supply or something) to get c25. Now I understand why you cant put c25 in an argon tank, but they wouldnt even let me trade my perfectly good argon tank for an empty c25 tank. I dont mind paying for the gas, but the tanks are expensive.

So here is my question. Does anybody know a place that will give me some sort of credit for my argon tank so I can use it to get the same size c25 tank and have that filled?

and if not, is there anyone that actually wants an argon tank and is interested in trading. The tank is nearly empty anyway, so I will compensate you for the gas that is in it.

Im just trying to get out of having to buy an entire tank.

I live in north Orlando. BTW the tank is about the size of a 10lb nitrous bottle.

:wavey:

Thanks!

If it's an "exchange" tank then any place that's not
stocked with a$$holes will just swap out. But if you
"own" it you may not fit into the exchange system,
sometimes one welding supply place's upstream gas
supplier isn't the same as another's and they will hang
you up. Though, it's interesting what a little Bondo
and the right color spray paint can do for that
situation. :secret2:

If you don't need high penetration then argon may do
you better as an all-around gas; certainly let you do
aluminum and stainless which Ar75 will not. If I had to
keep just one tank it'd be straight argon. For sheet
metal it may actually help you a bit with blow-through.

Hmm thanks. Yeah I own the tank.

Wait so you are saying to weld steel with argon? I tried that and it didnt work, but it was when I first got the welder and wasnt that great with it. Iv just been using flux core since and have been getting great welds (for flux core) out of it so I havent tried again.
