Default BBC Question

a BBC would probably be too heavy to be a good DD power house in a 3rd gen camaro wouldn't it?

Thumbs up

there is nothing wrong with a BB in a 3rd gen camaro as a daily driver. except for gas milage anyway. i am in the process of putting one in mine, not as a daily driver but a BB none the less. many have done it and many are in the process of doing it. if you are that worried about the weight you could cut it down some with aluminum parts i.e. heads, intake, radiator, etc. just look at all the factory cars that came with BB. im sure some if not most where DD. although i must say if you plan on doing this you will need to strengthen the rest of your drivetrain to handle it and also at least a set of sfc to help the body.

Ya, if i do this it would be pretty all out. Was thinking world products block + world aluminum heads. Forged internals be cool radiator full chrome molly tubular suspension etc. Of course this is all a big if haha. Friend was telling me how he helped a friend put a bbc in his 3rd gen and it turned like **** so they made it a drag car. Of course it will probably end up a mild sbc in it, however, there is a slight chance i'll get the money to do a real build hah.

Aluminum c port heads out of a chevy truck. On a smaller shot the car ran 10.4@136 spinning. Car has a radiator out of the same truck it looks like.

Going to clean up the wiring and fuses (hide them) in the next year or so.

I get 8-10mpg, pump gas car but ran on race gas.

PM me with any questions.

For a DD a SBC is the way to go.

Haha ya 10 mpg highway would definitely suck. I'll probably end up with a sbc cause of price but a bbc would just be fun to have.

10mpg city, highway would be a tad better but not much.

They are a lot of fun and the sound is killer. Turns a lot of heads with big nasty cams in them.

If I remember right the exhaust ports are c ports, not the more popular D ports.

If I remember right they were on the 454 Suburbans of those years and some 454 Chevy trucks of those years.

The block is out of a Nova and the heads are out of a burban or truck hahaha.

Im sure he went to the junk yard for these (guy that built it), the radiator I am sure also came out of the same truck or burban that the heads came out of.

Ya I bet. I would probably try to get a bbc EFI system set up to help a lil bit in mpg. But again who knows what'll I'll end up doing. It's nice to know all my options at least. Also my current engine probably gets **** mpg atm since the valve seals are pretty bad atm and not really worth replacing.

Looks like you can turn them into D port heads pretty easy from what someone was saying, the above heads I found out went on a sollid roller pump gas 396 BBC that made a little over 500 hp and thats in the low end ball park or what I think my car is at.

Was thinking about selling them to get D's but Ill just have these ported and worked next winter.

Google rocks, yahoo now sucks
