THESE BARS WILL BE SHIPPING UNPAINTED BY FEBRUARY 25th AND POWDER COATED BY FEBRUARY 27ND.
PICS !!!
Nope no need to remove the seats, to install it would be easier to remove the bottom seats. We will include a full set of directions on our website and with the harness bar so you can always have them.
We liked the appeal of putting the rear seat back in for good looks, but yes there will be no upper seatbelt or lapbelt mount.
The crotch strap bracket will be completed over the weekend, you will have full functionality of your seat. We are taking orders now for shipment late next week.

I really like the looks of this and I was looking for something similar for my 93. Lets say I wanted to update down the line to a 8 / 10 point cage could I use this as the basis for that?
TTPMatt
02-16-2008, 01:26 PM
This would not work for an update down the line unfortunately. It is mimicked off of where a normal legal crossbar in the main hoop would go, but the mounting points and design of the bar will not allow for updates to NHRA/IHRA legal bars.

Hmm.. I might still be picking one up. How much do they weigh?

Good question... the weight of the bar and removing the seats i wonder if it would equal out?

That's what I was thinking. I'm hoping it's really close or that it weighs less than the seats.
EDIT: Does till the 29th include the 29th? I get paid on that day.

Beaflag: I never want to beat anyone up. If you need until March 1,2 ,3 that's fine. same goes with anyone I'll probably extend this to mid-March had a big interest with local guys already.
I will get the final weight on the bar by tomorrow when we finish our first production unit in black powder coat for a local guy.

Looks really nice Matt, Is there any chance you could post up some pics when the bar is done of course, How the harness will look with Camaro seats? Since all the pics I keep finding are Firebird seats.
Thanks

I saw you do custom powder coating. Is that limited to the colors listed or could you do Hugger Orange?
Thanks,

We are working right now on building our blast cabinet, was a little behind because of damaged parts in shipping. We are trying to get this powder coated by the end of the week. I have changed the dates on this sale to accommodate for our delay.
I can't get a GM color, but if you want a close color to hugger orange I can try. Let me go through my list of colors here and see what I can get a sample of.
We will show the harness bar in a Camaro and a Firebird so everyone can see how it fits. We are also working right now on downsizing the tubing a bit to save on costs and make it still effective. We'd like to offer these bars exclusively in 4130 for a budget price and forgot about M/S!!

Definitely keep me/us in the loop as I'm looking to buy a bar soon! I have started doing a lot of road racing recently and no one seems to offer a reasonable solution to the harness situation in fbodies. I'd run a cage but in a street car it's not something I want so this fits in that category perfectly :)
Thanks,
William

Nice, but I was hoping it would be a cleaner/simpler design like the one LG used to make. Are those vertical bars really needed?
TTPMatt
02-25-2008, 03:38 PM
Yes they are definitely needed for the support. If you are going for all looks and no functionality then you can avoid using the vertical bars...
Looks like the p/c unit is about good to go. We have some samples of our candy apple red color that I'll be posting in about hour or so.

I thought the same, but then read a few guys had to add "legs" to the LG bar because it was flexing so much ... so just depends what you want it for I guess.

Hmmmm, please tell me that you'll be making a 3 point SFC which mounts in the correct/best points ( a'la Global West SFC's) unlike some other 3 point SFC's that are out there

How does this bar mount in the back?
TTPMatt
02-28-2008, 09:37 AM
It bolts right into the stock location> everything bolts in, NO cutting involved!
I'm looking at Nick putting the finishing touches on our first production bar with the end caps. I will get some pics going asap.

We have our first run of harness bars complete. We are working on the crotch strap assemblies. I have 3 units that are NOT spoken for as of now. If you want one of these units I will require a $50 deposit and let me know what gusset tabs you want welded on for which seats are in the car & what powder coat color you are interested in. I'll get some photos of the production runs tomorrow. Give me a call at the shop 973 365 2270 to jump on one of these they will be available to ship by mid-week.

Of course, finished product is coming tomorrow except I cannot powder coat them until I have the gusset choices obviously. So they will be all nice and shined up with the scotch brite but just not p/c'd.

I'm sorry to leave everyone hanging on this. We have had an influx of the shop work to setup cars just before this weekend's track events (Which look like they will be rained out), so we've been swamped. I have 4 more production units that are available but yes we hit a snag with our powder coater. We are going to have our new oven here hopefully by top of next week. Sorry guys I want these to move just as much as you do, but I don't want to release a product without showing the finalized product & fitment/quality that we want.

You guys, the LG bar was copied off of the design that I and Chris Akers created and that we fabricated with John Groves of Groves Automotive in Roanoke, VA many years ago.
We sold one set to Jason McCall who then went to work for LG, and LG copied the original design but lightened it and that is most likely why people saw any flexing. Jason himself practically totalled a car using our original harness bar with no problems whatsoever, since our bar was built with mild-steel and the tubing was 1.75" which LG felt was overkill.
Here are pix of the original bar, which requires no cutting, welding, etc and is used in conjunction with a floor bar between the two front seat bolts (Wolfe now sells a floor bar as a separate item).
Maybe John Groves would be interested in cranking out another set as a bulk order, but he wasn't interested in single jobs. He has the jig setup to duplicate with accuracy.
Well, strangely enough it is not allowing uploads of my jpgs even though they are only 65KB apiece. Maybe I need more posts first.
Anyway, if a discussion is open lets talk. I enjoyed designing these in the fall of 1998 (yes 10 years ago), roadraced with it and had a great time until I installed a full 6-pt rollbar setup.

To everyone, we ran into some measurement issues on the current harness bar sets that we have made. Due to demand, we will be discontinuing our production of harness bars. We can make a full custom set per vehicle (Just need a few measurements of where your seat is, etc) for $450 that will include powder coating.
I do apologize for this, however we have found that creating a mass produced harness bar that needs specialized gussets per harness set you use and taking into account driver height/seat position; this was not going to happen. We were able to create a universal harness bar, however, due to safety reasons I could not guarantee every driver could be "safe" with these.
V-Ticket: My bar is no copy of yours or LGs. It is an original design as you can see from our pictures on previous pages. I'd appreciate that you take your beef with LG out of my thread. Thanks.
