Default New z28

So i went and looked at a 96' z28 6spd today and i think im going to buy it but i have one quick question...the oil pressure was hovering around the first line on the cauge, the line half way between half of the gauge and nothing. If this is not a problem i will be going back to pick the car up, but i thought this was alittle low.

That is normal once the car is warmed up. During startup it should probably be at the halfway mark.

Might be the exhaust or drive shaft vibration, or the rear end might have old fluid and need a diff service.

Also check to see if all the rear suspention bolts are tightend.

Mine's up by the 3/4 mark when warming up, then goes back down once it warms up a little.

I think that u should be carefule in buying this car. I got my 94 a couple of yrs ago and it had the same problem with the oil pressure but everthing else was nice. I started taking it to the track and at around 4800-5500 rpms my car would stutar and hesitate. I couldnt find out what the hell it was, thought it was many things on my car so i changed alot of stuff for the fuel/spark to the mass airflow, nothing worked until one day i watched the oil pressure when i raced the car and it would rise but then drop back down, then go up, then down. later i found out that when the oil pressure drops the computer shuts off the fuel so that explain the hesitation. i dont think it would be a good buy unless ur going to do a rebuild or plan on maybe changing out an oil pump or something but im not an expert!

i think it's fine.. my rebuilt motor has around 10k miles on it and at startup its a bit above 50psi and then drops down to about 1/4, sometimes a bit below it (around the area the one you're talking about is).
