ls1 ECM and harness or not harness???
i am about to score an ls1 w/ the ecm and harness. my question is should i mess with the factory harness or use the factory ecm naturally ..AND GO WITH AN AFTER MARKET WIRE HARNESS TO PLUG DIRECTLY INTO THE FACTORY ECM ?or try to figure out the factory harness. its all going into an 80t/a ....please list any problems or benifits with either .

The f-body wiring harness is simple to make work stand alone...hook up about 5 pink wires and two orange wires and engine will run (with vats removed from pcm)
You can save a lot of money using stock harness.
Do a search, should be able to find schematics and connector pin outs...if not let me know the exact year and I can post some...

just so you know, the 4.8,5.3,6.0L truck harness will work also if you get a truck without electric throttle and they are much cheaper, most stock ls1 harness's go for over $150-200+,, i have found truck harness's for as cheap as $40, we used a truck harness in my brothers 6.0L malibu with no problems, it also will plug into a ls1 pcm or the truck pcm,
