Default slow turn signals

i just bought a 99 t/a yester day and i though i had burnt out signal light but they both work, but they only signal like every other second slow as ****. what could be the problem? bad flasher?

Are you sure they just blink slow in the first place?

Bad flasher. Its an old mechanical style and does burn out. Inexpensive part - but hard to find.

Its tucked over the side of one of the black supports under the dash after you take off the cover over the bottom of the steering column. The only thing you will be able to see is the backside of the clip holding the flasher and the wires going down the back side of the support. (There are some good posts on the site with pics.)

True, could also be bad bulb socket in rear harness. I had one with the notorious bad ground and flashing varied when I would move it around.

My buddy's '99 has really slow flashers too compared to my '01 and all his bulbs work. I'm wondering if they were just made that way......

i just replaced the flasher on my car and it flashes twice as fast as it used to id say thats your problem
