Anyone ever seen this happen? My buddy was driving down the highway following some of us that were racing and he was doing about a buck 20 and he hears a BOOM and suddenly he's hemmoraging tranny fluid. Turns out he had a broken tailshaft. Here's a picture of the broken part next to a good one... anyone ever heard of this happening?

A4 with aluminum driveshaft... it's a 2000 TA.... is this normal? Should he expect to break the replacement soon? Is it driveshaft related or torque arm related? We were thinking torque arm...

Definatly seen that happen... my brother (sited12) did that. He just bought a new tranny from PSJ. still got the peices in the garage...

Did he bend the driveshaft to break the tailshaft off?

No the driveshaft is not bent. Thats why we thought the torque arm caused the crack. I think now we are going to desighn a custom four link for his car.
