Default Ls1 Hp

I have a book that says my 98 Z28 LS1 has 305 hp... I got my hands on a LS1 out of a 99 SS rated at 320 hp ... Now, i know that Chevy will lie about hp but the very same book says that these ENGs have the same cam so where does the extra hp come from ???? It better not be from the hood..LOL

i believe it is because of ram air but i could be wrong. other than that, there is no difference. + i heard more like a difference of 315 and 330hp.

Funny you say that.. I was in line at the track last night, waiting to race. There was a GT behind me talking all sorts of bs about Chevys with his friends. He was pushing his car to move it out of the way to let a car by, and from a distance it looked like he hit my car. I walked up and said "you didn't just hit my car did you?" And he goes, noo, I wouldn't want to hit that car...... It's a Chevy and it might fall apart.

Bitch *** fool.. Funny cuz he was running high 13's in his gay *** GT

yup it's an auto. my main goal last night was just to break 12s.. didn't happen but I can do it easily I'm sure. I've hooked up better on the street than I did at the track.

OP - sorry man but

Yeah, 98 have the perimeter bolts. I don't know if they flow any worse than the 99's though.

I straight up asked him if he wanted to run, but like most Mustang mullets he declined for a variety of bs reasons.. Probably cuz he wouldn't have the opportunity to do a fly by like all of them like to do

Location changed. I know Jacey's 98 was terrible that night at the "track". Did that fool ever learn to drive?

Ram air can't be shown on a dyno. "Ram air" is more of a CAI than anything. The power difference is mainly a result of marketing. Just like GM gave the C5 higher numbers eventhough they had the same engine.

That said, there was a difference in exhaust between a Z and SS and a C5 so I'm sure there is a little difference but not as much as advertised.

For the most part an LS1 is an LS1, mod it and don't look back. Now from 01 up they did get the LS6 intake.

1997-98 ls1 had 28.5 lb injectors
1999-2000 ls1 had 26.3 lb injectors

the 97 and 98s had a lot more ring gap in 1999 they tightened it up a bit because of oil consumption issues.

and the 15 extra hp was for the ss model with the ram air and the exh. was different.

they both had .479/.472 207/199 117 lsa cams
the heads were the same except for the valve cover bolts and the coil pack mounts were different but they flowed the exact same.
