lol.....i think tony posted that in the lounge.

i've been asking for water pretty recently at restaurants, and one place brought it out w/o a lemon in it, and i asked from them to take it back...the waitress was like "what?" not in an angry way but more confused than anything.

thats stupid. Even dirt/oxygen has disease causing bacteria, but the body has several ways of fighting it off.

People have been using lemons for years, and I haven't heard of one case of getting sick from it. Mythbusters even did a skit on toothbrushes, even their control brushes, placed in a seperate room, had fecal bacterial. Its just something that is around everything as they put it

I suggest you read the book The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. It was written during the turn of the century focusing on the unsanitary and at most time complete repulsiveness nature of the meat packaging industry of the time. This book is what started the health code movement in America. Because of this book AND warnings like the one Amber posted you can eat food without having to worry about what is in it and if you OR children you have or may have may get a virus.

Been using lemon slices in my tea for years and never had an issue. I always wash the lemon before I cut it up. No biggie. I'll keep doing as I've always done.

Sensationalism, that's all it is. It's not like it's an epidemic.

Thats fine. I think they are focusing on the resturants that don't wash them. I use them at home and trust me I feel fine with that. I scrub the crap out of the skin though. We don't know if eateries do that??????

+1 on the jungle... After reading you will never look at food the same...
Thankfully now they look into all this stuff... I'm not a big fan of lemons but my b/f is and puts them in everything!!

their is bacteria everywhere.... Even after you wash your hands you have 'resident bacteria' on them..... Not all bacteria are bad either; some of the bacteria in your intestines help you digest foods etc... also things like methane, cheese, yogurt... are produced by bacterias help.

If you worry about that, you need to wear rubber gloves EVERYWHERE. So many places in public that you do not really think about, where so many bacteria and other germs live.

Do you touch the handle to the door on a restroom outside of your house? If so - you don't need to worry about the lemons......

Only when going into one. After I wash my hands, I use a paper towel to open the door. Way too many people that don't wash their hands.

Even door handles in general have tons of bacteria, but restrooms more so of course.. People sneeze, poo, pee, and what not all over their hands all the time and open doors in public.. Money is dirty as hell as well. Always a good idea to wash your hands before you eat and after touching dirty things.. Common sense
