Default different viscosities for different climates

i used to live in california and i ran amsoil 5w 30 all the time with no worry. i moved to texas a year ago and have been talking to other people with ls1's and they say theyre running 10w 50. ive never really heard of 10w 50 in ls1's and was wondering that since its hot as *** over here( high 90's) shuold i swap over to 10w 50? what does everyone else run here? i know this post probably isnt in the right catagory but can someone tell me their opinion.
thanks

I run 10-30 redline year round. my engine is basically stock with just a few bolt on goodies and a 2800 converter, so no problems with oil pressure. it varies from 28-30 psi idling at a traffic light with the A/C on and outdoor temp 100*. cruising down the X-way at 70 it's 40-45 psi.

well....since I live in AZ I'm running a 75/25 mix of Mobil 1...15-W50 and 10-W30....idle at 38-40 psi.....hits 65 psi by 3000RPM and holds all the way up....
