My first car was an 81 Camaro my dad and I restored when I was 15, then at 18 I bought a 99 Trans Am M6.. I had the Camaro till summer of 06' and the Trans Am I just sold at the end of December 07' for the Vette..

how do you young guys afford the insurance? for that matter the car itself, im 21 and im struggling to pay bills, let alone keep the z28 on the road

I am 21 and some how when I was 18 and broke, I stumbled across the job I have now. 3 years later and a lot of hard work to get where I am now with the company, allows me to pay the bills to have whats in the sig.

21/m with a 2002 Z06. My insurance is only $54 a month for full coverage. No tickets and good credit help a lot with that.

Question, how many of you guys had to finance? Or still are?

I just bought my z on the first of the month. I had saved up a 5k down payment and the car was 30k. Keep in mind I paid 21k for my T/A when I bought it with no down payment. So my monthly payment only went up 50 bucks a month with the vette. The idea was, while I am young and have no family to take car of and can afford it why not. I have a good job with good pay and like to spend. Thats the only thing I hate about this car is the fact most people think it was given to me. They do not know that I bust my ass mon-fri at work to pay for what I get.

I brought the price of my over priced dream car down from 45K to 36.5k lol..... Now I realize for my first car I should bought a black F-body cuz no chicks like yellow vettes :(

Same here. My father owns and operates Preferred Drywall Contractors here in Nashville and I started out with the company when I was 16 (summers of course). Now I am 23 and do quality control for the company.

My car has been payed off for nearly 3 years, purchased nearly 4 years ago....Insurance is really inexpensive(for me)even in south Florida where people can't drive to save their lives, or yours for that matter....

Ins. is $89/month for full coverage......

Chicks like fbodies because of t-tops but they also love the vette because of the targa top. I realize I'm part of the few guys that went with the targa but the ladies love it...except when they just did their hair, then they just complain how they are going to have to redo it. As far as yellow my ex loved yellow vettes and fbodies.

And I still finance mine, I have much better investments to tie up liquid assets. I got an amazing deal on my car and its worth more than I owe so I will probably keep it that way!

I started off in sports car being an import owner had a 400 hp 93 RX-7 R1, then went over to luxury cars with multiple Cadillacs and BMW's and one Infiniti. Then had an 05 CTS, 99 Cobra Vert and 06 XC90 V8. Sold the 05 CTS and bought my Vette and then after a while someone made me an offer damn near what I paid for my Vette on my Cobra! So now the Vette is my DD!

I'm 19 and have an '01. I bought a '99 Trans am 6 days after I turned 18 and traded that for a '05 GTO 10 months later and traded that for the vette about a month ago.

Who on here daily drive there vette's. My Mum has a C6 and I can't picture me driving it everyday. I'am sure its a fun DD, I'am talking about and coming from a comfort level? I'd rather have a GTO. Is it worth getting a FRC C5?

i drive my c5 daily and it is very comfortable...just my .02 tho

I DD my vette. Not in the sense as you would think though. I have a work truck I commute to work and back home in everyday, just due to the fact that you can not carry tools in a C5Z. I do drive the car everyday when I need to go out after work and also on the weekends. They are very much a comfortable car and fine for daily driving. I drove the car all the way from Huston to Nashville when I bought it and did not experience any discomfort. Ask your mom to let you DD hers for a week or so before you make your decision and your choice will get a bit easier.

Your MY so......I will say black would look nice, especially with black wheels. Black and yellow are always good together. What color are your wheels? Because I personally like gunmetal on the MY vettes and the metallic gunmetal GS stripes would look awesome! If you have chrome, silver GS stripes would compliment your car. They make a lot of colors, so what are some of your favorites and what are your future appearance plans?

21/M, 99 c5 vert m6. I still have the TA and im payin on both. I came from a 72 corvette (that ive still got and never really driven), lifted 92 silverado, 97 tahoe(still have this one w/175,000 mi, the DD), 88 vette, 94 z28 m6 vert, 68 c10, 04 cummins, my current TA, and then the vette. Theres a few more that arent even worth bringing up but as you can see i like to trade cars.

58/ Male, '03 Z06, not stock by any stretch of the imagination! :D Not my 1st Vette, but probably will be my last! I love this car and will never sell it!

I can't DD my c5z.

A C6 is MUCH better for daily driving than a C5, worlds of difference.

C6 is more comfortable, "roomier" and in general, I don't feel claustrophobic all the time. (and yes i'm comparing to non-modified interior C5, not a caged fixed seat monster)

nope, only reason I sold the Z was the mortgage company miscalculated my debt to income ratio and said I needed to get rid of it if I want to buy my first house. Well after I let the Z go dirt cheap ($27k in 2005 with 19k miles) they give me a call and say.."oops our mistake, you didn't need to sell your car." Needless to say i was not the happiest person in the world after that phone call. Oh well atleast I'm back in a vette :nod:.

I'm 41 and I just bought an 08 Corvette.

I have had an 02 Z28 since 2003. Before that I had a 94 Z28. Only the 94 was a daily driver.

I have no idea what my insurance will cost but I'm hoping to get in under limited use insurance whihc should run me 400-600 per year.
