Default Xmm Throttle Body

Hey kids! My motor is about done (1994 vette LT1 H/C/I) and as they are putting the LT4 manifold on with a 58 mm throttle body, I thought to myself, is there bigger?

My old trans am had a 70 something mm throttle body if I'm not mistaken and my 06 vette has a 90... so I was wondering if anyone goes bigger and if they have, is the price worth the gains?

Well, LT1 TB's have two blades for two opennings. Aparently, there's a mono-blade one made that has just one big opening on the TB.

you need to make a sig so we can see what has been done to your car. You probably don't even need a mono-blade.

I honestly don't even know whats been done to my car. I just call it the HIC motor. (HCI but its in an el camino... hic? anyone? anyone?)

I am not big on performance terms. I am more of the audio visual guy. My uncle owns a performance shop down here and I just told him to put the best of the best... I will get a write up tomorrow of what went in.

Unless it was something specific I might remember?

1994 corvette LT1... edelbrock LT4 intake, 58 mm throttle body... rocker roller something or another and a custom cam... maybe I should get that list. oh, he had the heads flow 270 with the ported LT1 intake... and had to port the heads a little more for the LT4 intake.

I would ask him but its 2:50 in the AM and when I get an idea that pops in my head I run with it... hence why I am on here.

You don't need a TB that big! The 58 is probably too big too but it will work. The stock piece is good to like 450 HP.

I was hoping to make 450 or a little more and put a 200 shot on it. You guys are EXTREMELY helpful... thank you

For the record, it's 58mmx2. So 116mm total. But as said you won't need over 52mm for a HCI car (Heads, Cam, Intake). Or HIC if you must You may look at my sig and say "Well you have it on a stock motor", yea, but I already HAD the TB from my last car, so I'm just transplanting it

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you won't make 450 RWHP and the 200 shot is really pushing it on a stock bottom end, 150shot has been agreed on that its the highest you can spray safely on stock blocks. But if your aiming for flywheel horsepower than 450 is more reasonable.

alrighty... just curious what the heck these mono's are for? Crazy TT LTs? I told my uncle 450 is the least I will walk away with and build it to handle a 300 shot. I figured that way if I got 500/525 and put a 200 shot on it I would be ahead of the game.

That paired with the built tranny - 40L6E or w.e and a 3200 stall... plus I have a G-body so we did a 8.5" transplant from a grand national with 3.73's.

fly wheel HP is what I was talking about... I'm not sure what its going to throw down on the dyno... my set up in kind of unique. haha The bottom end is not stock... or better not be we discussed making sure my motor could handle a 300 shot from day one.

LOL you are sooo reminding me of a guy we had here named "that guy"!

Transmission is 4L60E and a 3200 stall is kind of small for what you have planned. Like I said look up Lloyd Elliott or AFR (LT1 GODS) and they specialize in pairing head/cam combos for LT1's and they don't even get 450 to the rear wheels on stock blocks.

Only reason I did 3.73's with a 3200 is because its a street car.

The rear on my elco is very light. I re-did my suspension since then (adjustable shocks and boxed ctrl arms and what not) so that should help. But my car had a bit of traction issues

first burnout is eh... 2nd and 3rd are most exciting

WARNING: If you don't like rap music, please turn volume to off.

This was my car with bolt on's and a tune w/ the GN rear before we pulled the motor.

yes I know I'm a moron... but 2 years from now I'll still be a moron with my car. The video depicts exactly what I want the car for. Exciting burn outs, fun little circles (donuts), and just to brag that I have it. Here in Florida if you get caught street racing you get your car taken away, arrested, and criminal charges.

Why not take it to the track? The car is on its way for shows (fiberglass monte nose, shaved handles, ground effects, and everything else) so I do not meet track regulations.
