Can anyone help me? If my transmission mount was broken, how would I be able to tell? My car is an automatic, and when it shifts, there is a loud noise coming from under the car, right under the shifter. Would this be it? Hope this makes sense, it's almost 2 in the morning. Thanks in advance for any info.

is it a thumping or clunking kind of noise?
if it is it's most likely broken.
crawl under the car and take a look , if you see the rubber torn , then the mount is broken.

thumping or clunking...hmmm....thumping noise more than clunking...everytime it shifts, it's like something coming up and hitting the bottom of the car. Thanks for the info. If it is broken, how hard is it to replace or should I just take it to a mechanic and let them do it?
